ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Thanks man - I really appreciate the kind words! It’s been a blast, through the good times and bad, and I wouldn’t trade it. I’ll still be around. I will definitely be doing another couple of Melbourne away trips next season too.

No one was more dedicated to improving and getting our active going than Pete. Appreciate the hard work and the friendship mate. I'm actually going to miss having the megaphone in my ear. I had gotten used to it over the last 4 years.

Thanks legend, you’re too kind (cheque’s in the mail).
It would have been nothing without people like Jimmy and Eggy, and most crucially people like yourself and everyone else in the bay who came and created the atmosphere.

Thanks bud - appreciate the kind words.

I decided some time ago that, from a match day leadership perspective, I will be stepping back. Time for someone else to have a crack and try and grow the bay back to what it was. I’m looking forward to taking my place at the back of the bay!

I'd like to add my thanks to Pete, Jimmy and Eggy for their years of dedication to leading the active.
Jimmy has also posted that he is retiring.
Thanks again guys.

Just remember folks-

A goal was scored for every year since the Jest last won a finals match...

(And speaking of which)

If you finished in 2nd, had the first week off in the finals and had recently been poor against fellow finals teams- would you really want your 'warm up' to be against the team running last and playing like they couldn't give a f**k?

I know I wouldn't....

I dunno... There's something to be said for having your warm-up be an 8-2 rhomp against your local rivals I reckon...

Kennedy should be taken out the back and thrown into Brisbane waters. Just saw 'highlights'. His keeping was fkd
Yep, how ironic in hindsight was that big sign on the F3 in Round 1 that had the 2 best things to come out of Newcastle (Kennedy & Hoole). I bet Jets fans look at that now and go "yes, they sure were"

Irony is a funny thing-

Like in round 1 2008 (F3D in Broadmeadow) when the Squadron presented their 'Star' tifo from the GF but held it upside down...which is a distress signal...and how their season turned out from there on...

For next season, they should change the F3 sign to the sauce bottle flipping the bird with 'The Mariners welcome Newcastle Jets and all their fans'

*Edit*

And you can tell just how much pent-up resentment they've got for us, judging from how they've come out of the woodwork after the weekend. I mean I get it- when you fail to make a 6 team finals series in a 10 team competition for nearly a decade while your neighbours are winning silverware, you'd hate them too, but man...listening to them reminds me of Spurs fans gloating about their form vs Arsenal's form the past 18 months or so...

Like we get it- you guys have got a better team at the moment and our team sure as shit need fixing- but you don't really have an argument until you ad to your trophy cabinet...and their comments about us being bogans, living in caravans and committing incest?

Come on guys- you stole our old manager and our striker, but that doesn't mean you've got to steal our material, too!

If you're not careful you'll steal that losing Grand Finals thing as well...but you're welcome to keep that if WSW are done with it yet...

The joys of being a keeper. Really who would ever want that job.

When he hurt his thumb picking the ball out from the back of the net, he was getting strapped up and every Player in yellow and blue stripes (they weren’t Mariners that’s for sure) just stood at halfway. Not one player was concerned about him. They all blew up at him for conceeding (rightly so) but they shouldn’t have allowed the shot.

Right then the spirit that most of them don’t have came shining through. In there minds he was embarrassing them when they were doing a mighty fine job themselves. No team spirit. Maybe he’s the designated driver and gets the shits with them every sat night who knows but that’s not a team i like supporting

I'm glad someone else noticed this... What a DISGRACE the rest of his "teamates" were in that instance. Agree it was an ordinary goal to let in but where is the leadership or comradery amongst the team.... un mariner like - Baro should lose the C imo for this alone.... very poor!

Newcastle set records tumbling with their ineptitude last season, and look at them now. McGree's semifinal goal shot was perhaps the best I've ever seen. There's always hope.

They started with recruiting a good coach....... We have matched that.

They got a very switched on CEO (turncoat Jock c**t) ...we already have one (not a Scots C!).

Now we just have to assemble a decent Football team ...not a shambolic mix of past it and useless cast offs.

Not as long as we are well below the cap and include stuff like agent fees and player relocation costs in that cap. Quite a few current players making the move to the Central Coast this season.

Not sure I understand what you're getting at there Mick. However "expenses" is a well-known way to rort salary caps - you put the base salary in the cap report and feed the player extra money through expenses and cars and such. Are you suggesting that CCM reports inflates its salary cap report for the league by including the expenses, rather than excluding them as eg Melbourne Storm did?

It was an 2-8 win actually.
Ah, those were the days!
Unsegregated fans in Div 3 in those days. Oldham won the Div 3 that season, belting Huddersfield 6-0 on the way. The right wing, Groves, married a 15 year old and died at age 29, within a year of retiring from professional football.
I somehow feel that Powell, Bingham, Asdrubal and Appiah would've kept that scoreline down to a 2-2 draw.
