Rather strange is 'this little snippet' at the bottom of the press release though ....
CCM said:
The Central Coast Mariners and Glen Trifiro will make no further comment on this matter.

o_O I mean really, why did they bother to add that?

As if we'd be expecting any further comment from them about it, when every single previous sacking had the same short, sharp press release.

"You've already conditioned us from all the previous bloodletting not to ask questions, we've drunk the coolaid to not expect anything more in this dept."

We need a genuine 1st choice keeper. ONE NEW PLAYER.
We need starting fullbacks. Rosey needs to retire and Neill and Roux are
not good enough defenders to start ATM.
We need a top quality Experienced CB. Harry, uskok and Posco to learn from this player.
We have been extremely stupid having a back line of kids.....but they were cheap. SO WE NEED 3 NEW DEFENDERS

Of the midfield....I'd keep Monty, McGing, rosebud and budgie. I'd keep Garcia on 50% reduced playing fee if he wants to stay.
Everyone else to be replaced.
SO 3 NEW MIDDIES.

Of the Forwards
I'd cut Heff and Fletcher.
SO 2 NEW STRIKERS.

SO THATS 9 NEW PLAYERS NEEDED IF WE ARE TO GET FAIR DINKUM

We need two good players covering each spot.

Keeper....new #1 and one of the existing 3.
LB.....new and Neill as cover
RB....new and Storm as cover
CB.....new and Posco,Harry and Uskok.
LM, Austin and Budgie as cover
RM, Ferreira and new cover
DM, Monty, McGing, Liam Rose, new starting 11 standard player.
AM, Garcia and new cover
FOW, O'Donovan, Bingham, new starting 11 standard, new cover.

That's a lot of shopping.
And most importantly we need a defensive coach to organise our defensive structure.

And how are you going to get people out of their existing contracts / extend the squad limit *and* find the money to pay for new starters when you're benching existing starters? Not to mention fitting these people under the cap (if you're moving on cheapies and replacing them with people costing three times as much we'll have issues faster than you can say Perth Glory three times).

Of you 9 new players we need to sign players who are good on the ball ... our league is changing arguably lead by AU however MV, MC, PG, WSW , Roar even Jerks and Nix .. these sides will play us off the park if we can't improve.

I looked at the way we played on Sunday and honestly believed many NSL sides would have beaten them ...

I like TW as a person, and I fully accept the limitations he was given when he started however I just don't see any improvement if anything we are getting worst.. TW I believe is also playing for his contract in the last 6 rounds

Going to try to do two profiles of Aussie's abroad that we could potentially sign for people to discuss here are my first two:

Chris Herd: Right Full Back, Centre Back and Defensive Midfielder.
Currently at relegation threatened Chesterfield in the English League One, Herd can play a variety of roles. Would be an almost certain starter for the Socceroos if fit but is on the fringe because of his rate of injury and personal problems. A product of the Aston Villa academy, Chris played 36 games with the Villains from 2010 to 2015. The 26 year old would be in high demand in the A-League if he chooses to come home which could put us as a long shot to sign him. His personal problems may also cause difficulties with our "no dickheads" policy but would be quite a coup if we managed to sign him.

Liam Graham: Right Full Back
23 year old who was born in Melbourne but has represented New Zealand U20s previously. Currently at Chesterfield with Chris Herd. Came through the youth ranks of Vicenza in Serie B and then signed a professional contract with fellow Serie B club Ascoli and made one full appearance as substitute in his one season with them. At the end of the 2012-13 season he left Ascoli for another Serie B side in Monza. He made no appearances for them and was loaned out to Serie C team Pro Patria where he would make 5 appearances. His contract with Chesterfield runs out at the end of the English season. Would be worth at least a trial if he's not retained by Chesterfield. There aren't many Australian right backs available at the moment so could be a decent option to look at?

Piss poor effort by Mariners.
If the bloke is toxic....tell us.
They think we are 6000 mushrooms.
Going out on a limb here that if something was amiss or he was toxic - that the legal terms of his release prevented both sides from saying crap about each other. Non-disparagement etc

The last line if the press release might contain a clue.

Corporate code like "decided to take some time to consider future career options" or the most damning of all "wants to spend more time with his family"

Updated from PJ post in January.

McGing 2018
Ascroft 2018
Heward Belle 2018

Rose 2017
Poscoliero 2017
Roux 2017
Montgomery 2017
Austin 2017
O'Donovan 2017
Ferriera 2017
Izzo 2017
McDonald 2017
Neill 2017
Rose 2017
Fletcher 2017
Bingham 2017
Kalik 2017 - on loan

Bray 2016
Garcia 2016
Uskok 2016
Buhagiar 2016
Stella 2016
Heffernan 2016

So atm we have 16 signed for next season with Kalik likely to go.
The contract talk about Austin must be relating to a longer contract or upgrade given he is signed for next season already.
I cant see any value in us signing Garcia for 2017 and it has already been stated that Heffernan is going to be released.
It would appear that H-B is being groomed as the second keeper so unless Izzo goes, Bray will be released.
I would sign Buhagier on an NYL contract, re-signing Uskok and Stella would depend on if we could sign anybody better.
Can anybody confirm who are the visa players?

Never rated Trifiro, hopefully we only paid him out for the rest of this season so he can pick up a NPL gig, releases some more $ for next seasons cap.

O'Donovan is for sure a visa player. Montie has been in Australia long enough to get citizenship though not sure if he has it same goes for Heff and Ferreira.

I'd definitely have Uskok. There's value there (and that means that between Uskok, Ascroft, McGing and Posco there's a great little core for the future that will truly only get better).

Stella - not sold. Heff's going anyway. Bray I'd have, Buhagiar I'd have, and if I'm honest I wouldn't have Garcia. What he was *trying* on Sunday was outstanding, but what he was *achieving* made him our worst on the park. So many turnovers from pushing a pass that wasn't on or mishits. And he takes a player out of our defensive structure. He's class, but he doesn't fit.
