That's the AFC Champions League template, but with Masterfoods sponsorship instead of Haisheng and a dirty great FFA Cup badge stitched on. Could be the home kit, but I doubt it.

Ascroft looks to be a good pickup. Article doesn't mention he has also played for the young Socceroos. Interestingly he played as a RB for more than half his games in the Netherlands. I think he will be a step up from Ando.

Hopefully he turns out better than our last defender from VVV-Venlo...

...come to think of it, even if we do do that, we're still missing a centre back - you really want four in the squad. We've got three left backs though, if you count Sim as a left back.

True. And Marcel had a pretty good resume before he arrived. Goes to show that reputation is not always a good indicator of how well a player adapts. Marcel interestingly has gone to cement a spot in the Dutch 2nd Division, so he isn't a complete numpty.

And then there was his good goal in the ACL (1:15):

Walmsley has been giving Mcging time in CB in the NPL2. Although the last 2 games I watched he was played as a DM. But he is an option anyway.

That was a nice volley.

Boz, Harry, Posco....yes still need another especially as Posco also covers Storm at RB i think. Rosey could cover and McGing may be an option but it would be dangerous to go in to the season with only 3 specialist CB's. It hurt us last year.
So another CB and 2 strikers should see us alright.

Cousin in holland messaged me and told me Harry was heading home, then he showed up here....praised him about doing a great job in the MVV v VENLO games he played...so, I'm keen to see how he goes

Hard to really pick. Normally you want two of each position, four if there are two of them - e.g. CBs.

We're in a funny spot with the midfield trio, because we play both the two 6s 4-3-3 and the two 10s 4-3-3 at different times, so having three of each makes sense.

We seem to have the following:

GK Reddy / Izzo
RB Roux / ?
CB Bosnar / Poscoliero / Ashcroft / ?
LB Rose / Neill / Sim
DM Montgomery / Rose / McGing
AM Caceres / Kalik / Trifiro
RF Ferreira / ?
LF Fitzgerald / Austin
CF O'Donovan / Bingham

It seems that Rose can cover CB, both Poscoliero and Ashcroft can cover RB, Sim can play LF, Austin can play AM...

A decided quandary for Walmsley...but a nice one to have

I'm excited! I have no idea how we are going to go this season except like most I don't expect to win anything but this signing, and that of Izzo, shows we are backing young talent; the jury is out on Austin except we know he has scary pace and the signing of O'Donovan is a most enticing gamble, but both may represent the excitement Walmsley wants to bring to Bluetongue.
It also makes the signings for the NYL team one of the most anticipated in years.
