Socceroos to face Les Bleus

In a boost to FIFA World Cup preparations, Australia has secured its second successive high-profile friendly after announcing a clash with France in October, just a month after taking on five-time world champion Brazil.

The match will be played at the Parc des Princes in Paris on October 11 (October 12 AEST), after having clashed with Brazil in Brasilia on September 7 (September 8 AEST).

It will be the fourth time the Socceroos meet the 1998 World Cup winner, with each side having previously won one encounter 1-0 and drawn the other 1-1.

Socceroos coach Holger Osieck was pleased to have the opportunity to test his side against the world No.23 Les Bleus with less than a year until the World Cup, which kicks-off in Brazil next June.

"We need to play top quality international opponents as we have to get challenged on this level," said Osieck.

"This will be another great experience for our team and myself, as it gives me a good indication where we stand right now compared to the top countries in the world and what our focus has to be to raise our standard," concluded Osieck.

The game will be also in important hit-out for France just four days before its final World Cup qualifier against Finland.

The timing of the match however, may place Osieck in a tug-of-war with A-League clubs over players as the match will take place on the same day the season kicks-off.

The likes of Brisbane Roar trio Matt McKay, Ivan Franjic and Jade North, Perth Glory defender Michael Thwaite, Dario Vidosic and Eugene Galekovic of Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory duo Mark Milligan and Archie Thompson could miss the opening round if they retain their places in the full-strength Socceroos squad

I love Harry as much as the next person, but he has had his time. Time for Harry to hang up his international boots. Give the young guns who will actually have a chance to play in the WC a go!

Who has the best strike rates in that squad

1 Mitchell Duke - 66.6% or .66 goals every game. (2 Goals from 3 games)

Don't worry about the mere detail of games played & opposition - it's just not that important

No Galekovic after superb S. Korea game

Duke would have to be the most loyal supporter of Holger now.
Holger In = Duke going to Brazil
Holger Out = Duke possibly missing out (Holger has a man crush - that a new coach may not appreciate)
Still has to be won of the best sights in football watching a brazil side in full flight. They have come good in the last year & made us look well Shit house. Doesn't help that you can't (shouldn't) butcher in friendlies but we don't really have a butcher any more either
