id like to see a creative midfielder too... at times in v3 we relied too much on the long ball and didnt keep possession very well, we blitzed the pack in the first half of the season but we came back to the pack, that and a bit more speed - i think we're a bit slow (at least aloisi is gone, he is slow, and so was viddy)

definatly an attacking mid feilder, imo that is where we lacked a little in v3. I beleive sasho, mrja and simon will be quality enough up front. If matty can get some good balls, rather than having to make the opportunity's himselfi see him netting at least half a dozen this season.

I love watching Sasho, but he isn't the fastest; he's most dangerous when being fed.

Don't know about Nick M, he hasn't played for 3 years now, so he's really an unknown quantity.

We desperatly need Matty S to fire.  He may not be as quick as the very quickest, but he's enough pace to create danger.  Even then, he's of limmited value unless he can put a few away.

For these reasons, I think we need a fleet footed striker a smuch as we need an attacking midfielder.

First and foremost we need a centre back with physical presence and speed. I know he is with Adelaide but the ideal person is someone like Sasa Ognenovski. Uncompromising at both ends of the field.

Then a playmaking midfielder who can play at the top of the diamond who can scheme and create for the attack. Juninho would be ideal and he would be protected by the likes of Mile and Hutcho

Then if one becomes available a speed demon striker would top it off.

That takes care of the spine of the team and the rest will look after itself. As they say football is simple made complicated by tunnel visioned players or team selectors.

a great attacking Mid would be best - a quality playmaker is what id like to see :)

I'm with Omni. I can't say one position is more pressing than the other, although I do think creative midfielder is something we lack more than the other positions.

Definitely need another top class striker though. We can't rely on Nic for the season and Matty can't score for love or money. Sash only seems to have a go when he's in the right mood so another target man is a must.

I'm really not sure if Wilko or Boogs should be on the right. Either way we need another centre half. I don't think O'Grady's up to HAL standard.

I'm not disappointed at all because I think he'd be a great buy, but it does suprise me we seem to be after Juninho. He doesn't quite fit the mould of the type of player we've bought in the past.

Fozzie will be happy.  ;D

we still wouldnt have enough brazillians but we can rectify that problem by giving them all brazillian names
For example this is the current squad list
1 Trottinho
2 Simao
3 Strinho
4 Macandres
5 Porto
6 Gumpres
7 Hutchino
8 Hefu
9 Nico
11 Damiao
12 Ouenho
15 Clarcinho
16 Booginho
17 Osmao
18 Alex
19 Kwasaldinho
20 Dani
22 Sashinho
23 Jedinao
30 Redmanho
and Caceres

Playmaker, followed by strikers.  Although I'm very keen to see how Caceres goes as a playmaker (if that is indeed how he's deployed).

Defence and midfield are fine for now.

I can't remember if Caceras is left or right footed although I think he's a leftie, isn't he?

Anyhow, I see him more as a winger than a playmaker, although with what's left of our midfield at the moment, he's the one closest to a creative midfielder.

Will be interesting to see how Lawrie uses him.

yeah he is a left footer, normally plays as a winger. correct me if im wrong but we have no one that does decent corners as Tommy is gone and Hutch aint great at them

Agreed. I've always thought that our corners, set pieces and crosses (apart from Tommy) has never been good enough.

crosses from the left should be fixed by Caceres. Mrdja and Jedinak are good at set pieces, but corners are a big question mark for me and one of the new signings this year is hopefully a dead-ball specialist

I feel we have plenty of depth in the squad as it is and a solid playmaker would help bring this to light. No point in having a flashy paint job when the engine isn't up to scratch!
