...this is old new and well addressed in the 'Squad 2010/2011' thread but I just enjoyed the CC Express Advocate's sports page headline today. (I'm also aware that CCM are still making no further comment and deny an agreement has been reached, in contrast to the Express and the Konyaspor website).

We must, however, have an appreciation thread (even in the event that terms aren't reached) and separate from the squad thread.

I congratulate Danny and clearly this is a great move (which was always going to happen). I'm very sad we haven't had a chance to send him off. He was my kid's favourite Mariner.

I'm going to miss (apart from shots stopped):

• His willingness to engage with kids / supporters (obviously a wider mariner trait too)
• Being in the mix in the box for a corner when we're down by one at 90+3
• His obliging responses to "Danny what's the score?"
• Never failing to get the "what the f**k was that" at his defenders clearly mouthed for Fox following (almost) every conceded goal!

Terrific player, great character, a Mariner legend for all time, will be very difficult to replace. All good keepers need to be a little bit mental and he certainly was - loved those mad forays out of his area even if he did get sent off against Sydney!The way he climbed into the crowd at Bluetongue when the Olyroos beast Iraq, priceless. Sincerely hope he continues to improve and he gets to earn the Socceroo cap he so dearly wants and ultimately makes the squad for WC 2014. Thanks for everything Danny Vukovic.

IMO the next Socceroo keeper... aside from the season when he came back from the sent off .. IMO he has been the best keeper in the league will be very hard to replace...

A sad day in our short history. Danny was my favourite player and that of many others who follow our beloved club. It's a bitter-sweet moment, a moment I knew would be coming sooner rather than later given I believe Danny in time will be our Socceroos shot stopper and eventually, standing between the sticks for a European heavyweight in one of the top leagues in the world (with any luck, for Leeds United one day when we return to the EPL albeit we have another potential young great one in Schmeichel).

I will be watching Danny from afar and I'd hope the club can come up with some sort of tribute for Danny e.g. memorabilia option? Unlikely, though it would be welcomed.

Who replaces Danny? Five weeks out from kick off, this is now the $1M question?

What a sad day in his life .... Danny needs a new agent and his old one should be dragged behind a train from Gosford to Sydney (one that goes vis NS Line) ... the train stopped at the harbour bridge ... then should be thrown off...

Like some people are just Kents .... other put on airs ... Danny was and is a very decent young man and deserves better from an agent ...
