Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Final Round:

Pre game in scumland .... Spencer starting  :piralaugh:  Denni out.  Not raining.

He may not play for them ever again.

With James Holland and this new Korean bloke he may not get a look in for the rest of the season.

Plus Simon Hill mentioned that he won't be retained by the Scum for next year.

Race Still on for Premier's Plate in Last Matches of Hyundai A-League
2007/08 Season

You don't have to be a mathematician, but it helps ...

With two fixtures completed in the final round of the Hyundai A-League
2007/08 Season, and two to go, the winner of the coveted Premier's Plate
(awarded to the team that finishes the season at the top of the table)
will be determined by today's matches between Sydney FC & Melbourne
Victory and Queensland Roar & Adelaide United.

Based on the closeness of the teams' standings, the competition rules
will be crucial in determining the final placing (see rules below).

On Friday night the Newcastle Jets temporarily jumped into first place
with their thrilling 2-1 victory over Perth Glory, but the Central Coast
Mariners trumped them last night courtesy of their 2-0 win over
Wellington Phoenix due to a superior goal difference (see table below).

As a result, Sydney FC will need to defeat Melbourne Victory by a margin
of at least two goals to give them the league lead.

Should Sydney FC win by a score line of 1-0, 2-1 or 3-2, the Central
Coast Mariners will still remain ahead on the table due to a higher
number of goals scored throughout the season. But, if Sydney FC win by a
margin of 4-3 they will have the same goal difference and the same
number of goals scored as the Mariners which then means the next
determining factor of the "highest number of points accumulated in
matches between the teams concerned" is activated.

Under this scenario, Sydney FC would move ahead of the Mariners due to
their two wins over the Central Coast in Round 10 (SFC 3 - CCM 2) and
Round 15 (CCM 4 - SFC 2). If Sydney FC wins by scoring 5 goals or more
with a margin of one goal, they would also place ahead of the Mariners
due to a higher number of goals scored throughout the season.

Queensland Roar will also need a win over Adelaide United to give them
any chance of finishing the season at the top of the leader and claiming
the Premier's Plate.

If Queensland Roar and Sydney FC finish the season equal on points, and
on equal goal difference, the determining factor will be the team who
has scored the highest number of goals throughout the season - which
will come down to how well those two teams and their opponents play
tonight.

Whichever way you look at the situation, it's a nail-biting finish to
the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 home and away season - and one in which
Football Federation Australia (FFA) has taken the only course of action
it could in deciding where FFA CEO, Ben Buckley, and the Premiership
Plate should be on Sunday.

Buckley will be on hand in Adelaide to watch Adelaide United v
Queensland Roar in the final match, in case Queensland Roar finish top
of the table, and to present the Premier's Plate ... if that's how the
numbers stack up.

If Queensland Roar are not the eventual winners, the Premier's Plate
will be presented at the next home game of the Premiers during the
Hyundai A-League 2008 Finals Series.
