Brosque Hits Quick Hat-Trick

SYDNEY FC swept aside Sydney Tigers with what could be the quickest hat-trick in club history for Alex Brosque tonight.

Persistent rain didn't stop more than 3,300 fans from turning out at Leichhardt's Lambert Park, and it didn't affect  Brosque who proved unstoppable, finding the net three times inside the first ten minutes.

Brosque's first came shortly after kick off when he volleyed sweetly from a well-timed Adam Casey cross, and he was in again a few minutes later, punishing the Tigers' keeper for an error by firing a curling shot into the back of an empty net, from distance.

The 25-year old was clearly in a class of his own, and when young striker, Chris Payne skilfully beat two defenders before laying the ball off, Brosque was on target with the finish to collect his third.

After the initial onslaught, the Tigers began to play their way into the game, but Sydney FC looked fit and composed, and despite failing to add to their advantage before the break, they were in control of the contest.

The second half saw the injection of striker John Aloisi and the marquee man looked sharp in his first hit out of the pre season.

The 33-year old came close with a header during his 30 minute stint, but in the end there was no addition to the half time score.

After delivering their best performance yet for new coach Vitezslav Lavicka, the Sky Blues will play the fourth match of their packed pre season program next week against the Northern Tigers.

The clash with the State Super League side will be played next Wednesday night at Mills Park in Asquith.

Sydney FC def Fury 4 - 0 @ Shark Park (approx 5200 attendance)

Apparently Fury were appalling, Sydney were without Kisel, Aloi$i, Brosque and Colosimo.

Seems like it is just Sydney playing pre-season matches right now. Are there any other preseason matches which media have missed lately?

Shanghai Shenhua withdraw from pre-season friendly against Sydney FC

July 08, 2009 Chinese Super League team Shanghai Shenhua have withdrawn from their proposed match against Sydney FC, scheduled for Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday, July 25.

Shanghai Shenhua, who are sixth on the Chinese Super League ladder at the mid-season break, cited concerns about the quality of squad they can send to Australia after five players were called into the China squad for matches during July.

"This is really disappointing for the coach and players because it was to have been an important part of our pre-season build up leading into the (A-League) season proper," Sydney FC chief executive Stefan Kamasz said.

"We will now have to take steps to identify suitable opponents for our final pre-season match, which will be difficult given the short lead time."
