Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Monty. What's people's thoughts
Keeps his spot?
CB with Faty?
Benched for Liam?

I don't like him as a CB but seeing as we are very weak there and Liam maybe a better fit to our new system it would be either that, bench or oranges.

He could provide a calm head on the ball for our young back four. But a centre back pairing of him and Faty would be much too slow unfortunately, especially against Jamie Maclaren. I think replacing Berry on the bench would be best and then injecting him at around the sixety minute mark.

Be surprised if Okon didn't persist with Monty. When Liam comes back into camp, Monty is Captain and still a very good footballer. Competition for spots will be interesting. I also think Monty knowing he will get pulled at 60 for Rose wold let him increase his work rate and see us come home with a wet sail with rose on. That or Taveres. It's good to have another quality DM now in reserve that can have a strong attacking impact.

I think Monty's time is almost up. Gave the ball up for both the first two goals last week. Arnie let him play knowing he created no threat. Stifled the attack as he never passes left (it's about 3:1)

hmm, after watching the scummers roll them , the thought occurs that either their spirits are crushed beyond repair or they will give us a bollocking....although, I havent seen the Roar play that bad (in patches) since before Ange, so you never know, we may very well snag one...heres to a surprising win COYY ( as long as our defence has been well and truly sorted)

Is Rose back, I thought he was still with U/20s?

There are players that can play, and there are players that can stop players that can play from playing. Monty falls into the second category and he does that really well. His role seems to have changed to fit into PO system and I am not sure he is up to it. Leave the distribution to Tav and focus on shutting down Broich, McKay, Holman.

Plenty of quality in their side. Hoping they still haven't gelled yet. Unfortunately McKay will bring leadership and cohesion back with him. They will obviously be keen to bounce back and make amends after last week. So pressure on them early may rattle them - ideally an early goal. Let's not let them settle into a rhythm and grow in confidence.

Ideal would be...
'Oh no we're two down to the Mariners' They may capitulate.

One nil and being outplayed may also do it.

Also roar is an older side now than is typical for Roar since Ange - maybe we can outwork them too.

But most will depend on how well our players have adapted to Okons system and if they are still prone to the mistakes that possession football gives them such ample opportunity to make.

Liam away with under 19's from 13th to 30th needing to make the semi finals to make the under 20 World Cup

I blame Rowdy for the confusion as hasn't been updating everyone in the Australian football threads.

So no Liam for next 2 weeks

Meanwhile, Aloisi has called for his side to put in a much better showing when they travel away to Central Coast Mariners after their shock 4-0 loss to Newcastle.

“It’s quite simple – we have to have a reaction,” Aloisi told reporters.

“You can rack your head about why and who wasn’t there, conditions, the way the opposition played. But at the end of the day, there’s no excuse.

“Nothing was good. The players are disappointed, as they should be. We expect more and we have to perform better.

“They’re up for it, they want to show what they can do and where they’re headed.”

Skipper Matt McKay returns to the side after missing the defeat to the Jets through suspension and Aloisi said it would be a big boost to have their midfield general back.

New Spanish signing Arana will stay at home as he continues to build match fitness while Dimi Petratos (ankle) also won’t be risked against the Mariners, who will also be looking to recover after they were smashed 4-0 last weekend by Sydney FC.

Brisbane won all three of their matches against Central Coast last season – including a 1-0 away victory – and are favourites to claim the three points again on Saturday, but Aloisi expects them to be a different beast under new coach Paul Okon.

“The Mariners in the two games they’ve played have created a lot of chances,” he said.

“They’re a good side, especially going forward – they’ve got quick players out wide, O’Donovan’s quick, Powell, and in midfield they’ve got players who can play.

“They’re going to be a side that will cause issues for every team.”

Winger Fabio Ferreira has been named to make his first appearance of the season after missing the first two rounds due to injury, while defender Jacob Poscoliero (thigh) drops out.
