Why coach rather than keeper?
and whether Okon wants to let Izzo keep playing or give somebody more experience may well depend on how important the top 6 is. But I would say that if we have a decent 2nd string keeper, why not keep them going - it's not like this season matters, really (except for not getting the spoon)
Didn't watch the game, but watching the highlights - as commentators say "Galloway gets caught ball watching" Hasn't "[defender] gets caught ball watching" been the story of our season?
Highlights only show one angle, but I'm not convinced the pen was a foul - looks like Ibini just got himself in front of the defender and left the defender no chance to react.
Good to see Ivan doing really well, especially despite that early goal (which he had no chance to stop). Getting the callup and conceding a goal in 8 minutes could have hurt his confidence for the rest of the game - good on him
His eyes were on the ball, but to be fair to Galloway, they all got pulled too narrow, you could have thrown a blanket over both CB's and LB, and as for Roux he is almost always too narrow. Dream job as a left winger playing against him as far as I'm concerned... you can consistently bring the ball down in space, get several free yards to get some pace on and run at him, or time to whip it in or play a triangle... it's happened all year. In comparison, Bingham/Pain/Appiah/Trent had to work for every yard last night against SFC. And the cross.. You also have to say, it was a very high quality delivery by Zullo, but that ball shouldn't come in so easily at the very least not without some semblance of real pressure - just like the cross for the header against the scum - which Roux could quite easily have closed down any possibility of.
Anyway, it was exactly the kind of quality balls we need and more of the same anticipatory runs by our own attackers to the post as well. I think Okon has improved us in so many ways, but for mine that final ball with someone always making the run to near post, far post, and for a cut back is sorely missing. More often than not they still don't know where each other are, or will be, and they don't look, or by the time they do it's too late... bottom line, we consistently still get it wrong and waste our build up play.
Positives, I think McGing continues to grow and so does Appiah and Rosey is kicking ass and taking names.
Ivan was great. Never quite understood the grief SFC fans gave him and some of our own fans on his signing, don't think he's legitimately earned it. Unlikely to ever set the league on fire, but we can do worse, and besides his shot stopping etc, some calm and experience last night between the sticks was good for us I thought. Justice on the Bernie pen too i think. Never a pen for mine.
Bingham did well, (Boy Pain looked PISSED at Bingham starting over him) but I still think its pretty clear he isn't a winger - he's a striker, his hold up play is of far more value higher up and centrally, he's far more dangerous if he's in the box for crosses. I'm a Roy fan, but I think there's an argument to say Bignham up front could offer as just as much if in different ways. Not convinced that Roy combines that well for others, I've held others accountable mostly for the breakdown before, but after last night, starting to think he's also part of the problem, was not even looking and could have put it all but on a plate twice for another player.
