ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Very frustrating when they stock WSW, SFC, Jets.....but not us. When I complain at the shop they just think I'm a crazy old man.
I'm not sure what the answer here is, should be able to order the shirts in demand through the website. Other clubs do it.

Regarding school visits - playing devils advocate, all the examples listed, nrl, nbl and cricket nsw would be funded by the comp, not the club. Can you see the APL funding school visits on the central coast?

Still it’s a comparatively untapped market to grow attendance which is a key kpi.
Yeah that’s a good point, I know cricket nsw funds the staff/equipment etc

North Melbourne Kangaroos just used to send a fringe rookie draft pick (seemed to be something of a curse to be sent as they all seemingly got delisted at the end of the year they visited) to my school every couple of years.

I don't think it overly matters if it's a high profile player or some highly paid, the scholarship lads would do well.

Are the players allowed to visits primary schools?

Do some juggling or shooting net in front of school assembly and put a flyer in every students bag with a big $29 for the whole family promotion (Eg).
Didn’t they just do a heap of school visits? Was it just before Xmas?
They have come to my sons school before, years ago. Was one of the reasons we all started attending the games.

Nil cost for players to visit schools if it is part of their contract. Maybe some petrol money and cost to print off some posters or discounted passes.

The costs shouldn't be high for a simple one off visit. And the FA have multi-visit programs to visit schools that the school can apply for NSW govt grants to underwrite (that the mariners can them piggy back off).

Not true if it’s done properly. There would need to be a staff member employed to liaise with all the schools on the coast, organscheduling of visits, player rotations etc.

There would need to be a full set of equipment purchased, transported, and serviced to supply a decent experience for the kids.

There would also need to be a pretty decent overhead allocation for merchandise, or giveaways at each school - think simple printing costs of one signed poster per kid at minimum.

It’s not insurmountable, and probably still a net gain, but having been a part of school programs personally it’s not as simple as a youth player having the afternoon off and turning up at a school in the way home with a ball, hence why they are usually funded and organised by the comp, with teams supplying some players.

My plan would be to send a high profile player like JC, Beni, Kaltak, etc along with a scholarship or fringe player or two. Academy/support staff do most of the heavy lifting and let the players float around and do the smiling, pics & get involved a bit. Could do multiple schools in a day if you wanted to.
