ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Abdelrahman Kuku - He's a defender (CB I think??)

Ex Wanders NYL player who spent a year in the USA on a scholarship.

Ingham played on the wing in one third of the Manly game. He was on the grandstand side and I thought he did OK.
Others weren't so positive. Then he moved to the back on the other side of the pitch and I really didn't take much notice.
I was wondering if he was at the back as a trial for when Ziggy gets sent off for a perfectly timed sliding tackle.
Or when Rowles gets a red, which is pretty inevitable at some point in the season.

I would imagine that as part of referee preseason they'll be practicing how to spell Ziggy.

Agree he was on the wing in his second 30 and looked much better there. Team had better balance too.

Thanks for the report Celery.

I have no issue with multiple players coming up sore early in preseason. Given like Mick said that it’s properly programmed. Which I expect it is given we have a new S&C as well as purportedly a best in class consultant according to the fan forum night.

But also, the fact there are multiple very sore, yet not injured players, who are therefore being rested, is a sign it’s A) being done well and B) that they’re being monitored properly and not being allowed to do anything stupid. Too little or much too soon is the recipe for injury. Sore but not injured and given time to rest when needed is bang on.

They’ll have no choice but to back off loads once our competitive fixtures start and cup games will only get tougher so this is the time to get it done. Always nice to get minutes into them. But the fact we have multiple sore players yet none injured is actually just the right sign.

Staj is known to work his teams hard. But he’s been coaching a long time. Until I hear of strains and injuries, so far so good I think.

A couple of observations from last night...

Tommy Oar ran riot in what looked like an advanced midfield position. Very sharp and committed, and importantly, injury free.

Our #17 (couldn't catch his name, but a small nuggety frame) ran his heart out and was committed to every tackle. Took a couple of heavy knocks that required attention, but never gave up.

Looked like plenty of traditional wing play, but also some very crisp interchanges through the middle too.

Not sure who the very tall black dude was in the central defence, but he was very calm and poised and distributed well. Have to say he was rarely under any real pressure though.

We will definitely have a height issue, with only a few tall players involved. Matt Simon looked like a giant surrounded by midgets!

Some lovely goals. I especially liked that we were prepared to have go from distance, not just try to walk it into the net. two cracking goals that way.

I left thinking we are well prepared for the FFA Cup if we play like we did in the final 2/3rds of last night's match.

I think it was Silvera 18 yo scholarship player from WSW

Puts on helmet, and please don't all think ill of me for this post. BUT you gotta give it Football fans in the greater Hunter / Newcastle area in that they by a combination of demand and viewership they have all things Football on mainstream media.. so so so so different to the rest of the country...

My father was raised in Paxton a coal mine in the Hunter and he often told the story that the Hunter was Football and most of Newcastle and the steel works was league and Scone & Muswellbrook where Union and Football...

This vid is highlights of KB United from 1979 it's 15 minutes long, but for a taste watch from say 2:30 to 3:30 and almost a 19K crowd. Love that we have NBN coverage cover a match against a Park team with a plug for the Maitland game.

I was a ball boy around this time and remember some games with massive crowds. Was probably at this game.

I was going to comment on general soreness in a similar vein. Don't need to after reading this

Ah the memories of the magic sponge...
A bucket full of dirty water & the magic sponge fixed all the injuries, then if you wanted a drink the magic sponge turned into a filter as you just sucked the water through it.
No one ever got sick,in fact it probably gave us the best immune systems ever...

A decent hit out, and most bizarrely actually won a FFA cup match. :vhappy:
Obviously still more work to do , but a managed to keep a clean sheet even with injures to both starting CB's.
