ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Avoiding the spoon

The 3 teams above us have about a point per round, so let's say we need a minimum 30pts to avoid the spoon. That means we need 21 more pts in the next 13 rounds, just over 1.6pts per round. This means we need more than a win in each home-and-away cycle: two draws would not be enough. Will be amazing if we do it.

If Leonardo plays again Jets are a different team.

Taggart may go to Perth rather than Jets.Perth will be out of wooden spoon contention with another goal scorer.Keogh will take 2/3 weeks to get match fit.

Ange will be recommending directly or indirectly more youn Aussie players to play for Miller.

Do you think we have FFA coaching relationships that Jets have? Or poppa or Arnie or Aloisi......our golden generation coaches would be pretty close with all levels of National team coaches. It will take time for TW and JH and our club coaching team to form relationships with Ange and u17.u20.u23 coaches.

Do you think not having/not being able to afford W league and woman's structure must hold back our FFA relationships in coaching and thus recruitment?

Last 2 games we have played like a top 6 team.

Jets or Perth for wooden spoon.

Why ??? The FFA may currently own/administrate them but they will be offloaded sooner rather than later.

This season's squad has & was selected already by Miller, no changes unless they have major injuries. The FFA arent going to spend a dime outside the cap bringing in someone special, would be bad business by them if they did.

NO ........for the simple reason that Ange has no cause to ring Tony, for we DONT have any players in our squad at the moment that are anywhere near the grade for the Socceroo's.

Again, cant see the link your trying to draw here.

How would a detrimental relationship with the FFA affect Coaching and Rectuitment at CCM ???

We have two games against the Jerks ... both at home ... we win both and they get the spoon ... win one and draw one we are equal aside from goal difference ... loose one and we are in big trouble...

If we recruit well in the transfer window and avoid injuries to key players then we should be ok. With Fitzy, Caceres (most likely) gone, and Tricky, Sim, Heff out of favour and unlikely to get much game time we are extremely light. Not sure about Bray but i think the likes of Stella and Uskok will take several games to get used to the pace of the league so they won't have much impact this year. We urgently need a number 10, and another striker as a bare minimum.

We've scored more goals than the four teams above us and we are only four points behind 8th. If we tighten our defence and keep playing the way we are then avoiding the spoon is a real possibility.
Handing the spoon to the Jets at a derby would be quite nice.

Just checked, we don't play the Jets till round 21. I'd like to be off the bottom by then tbh.

Really only two positions are ever remembered in a seasons history, first & last.
All the others are remembered only by the said team.
As we`ve been pretty successful over the years it`s more the stigma of having the "wooden spoon" hanging around our necks that is the fear.
Anything other than last we can move on from.
I just hope we have the strength to do it.
