wow...I agree totally Midfielder....if true this would be fantastic for the A-League. Could easily be the best ever import and could drag thousands of casuals along to matches.

:headbutt: Melbourne Victory have confirmed they have re-signed Qantas Socceroos defender Mark Milligan on a three-year deal, following a successful loan spell last season.

Milligan returns to the Hyundai A-League after a three-season stint in Asia, playing for Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua two seasons in Japan’s J-League 2 with JEF United.

With his squad for the upcoming season now complete, Melbourne Victory boss, Ange Postecoglou, said the 26-year-old had already proved his quality to the club.

“Mark is an uncompromising player who provides great versatility to the playing group, as he is equally comfortable in defence as he is in central midfield.”

“He left a real impression on the group during his time at the club last season and from that perspective we’re delighted to have him back in a Victory shirt.” Postecoglou added.

Milligan said he's looking forward to a more long-term deal in the Victorian capital.

“Last season, while the club didn’t quite have the success they had hoped for, I really enjoyed my time in Melbourne and I’m excited to be coming back.

“Ange (Postecoglou) has made a few really good signings, so there’s a lot to look forward to next season and hopefully, as a group, we can bring plenty of success back to Melbourne Victory,” he said

Melbourne Heart have agreed to terms with South Korean club Seongnam Ilhwa for defender Brendan Hamill.

Hamill, 20, was one of the inaugural members of the Heart squad, linking up with the side in early 2010 following a successful stint at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Making an immediate impression at Hyundai A-League level, Hamill demonstrated a maturity and poise which belied his age, featuring on 34 occasions for the young Melbourne club.

Hamill could be seen as a direct replacement for Qantas Socceroos defender Sasa Ognenovski, who recently left the club to head to Qatari club Umm

MELBOURNE Heart has been upstaged in the off-season by Melbourne Victory's aggressive recruitment policy, but the third-season A-League club is hoping to steal its rival's thunder with an ambitious bid to sign former Manchester United and England striker Michael Owen to spearhead its attack next season.

Heart is officially tight-lipped about the move, but the club has been in contact with Owen's English representatives to gauge the frontman's interest in a trip down under later this year.

It is understood Heart has talked about a possible one-year contract or, if Owen is not interested in that, a 10-game guest player stint that would allow the 32-year-old to return to England to try to find another European club in the January 2013 transfer window.

One of the big pitches Heart can make to the former Liverpool star is that he would be in training, playing and living in Melbourne during the spring carnival, an event of major interest to Owen, who has a substantial involvement and growing interest in horse racing.

Advertisement Owen owns many racehorses in Britain and is a major investor in a racing stable run by British trainer Tom Dascombe. He had a winner at Royal Ascot last year when Brown Panther won a staying race, and Racing Victoria has suggested he might be the sort who could target the Melbourne Cup.

Heart is hopeful rather than confident of signing Owen, but believes he could be tempted to Australia for at least a short-term deal to play up front alongside its latest signing, former Croatian under-21 international Josip Tadic.

Tadic is a tall, strong striker who spent three seasons with leading Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb and also had spells in Germany and France.

''Josip's a No. 9, holds up the ball well, finds good positions in the box and is a goal scorer. He's a very important signing,'' Heart coach John Aloisi said.

''Having won three titles on the bounce during his time at Dinamo Zagreb alongside Luka Modric, Josip will bring a winning mentality and is the perfect type of player for our system. He will be the player we look for to score goals and we're sure he will.''

Heart might feel optimistic that it is sorting its options out in the forward third of the field, but it now faces a headache at the back following the decision of young centre-back Brendan Hamill to take up an offer from South Korean club Seongnam.

Owen has said he would rather retire than drop down to the level of the Championship so any hope of playing in the A league is pretty remote - mind you, they could fly him in for the first Tuesday in November...

Greek 'Aussie' Trials At Wanderers
http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news.aspx?CIaNID=245665#comments

EXCLUSIVE: Western Sydney Wanderers are trialing former Greek youth team striker Giannis Simosis who, if signed, would not take up a visa spot due to the forward’s Aussie parentage.

Simosis, 21, has played for Greece at U-19 level in European qualifiers and was born in Greece, but he has an Australian passport due to his mother.

It’s understood the right-footed Simosis has played about 30 games in the Greek Super League and Second Division at clubs such as Panthrakikos and Panionios.

From Perez's facebook site:

"Le digo, ¿cómo se dice, una broma. Por supuesto, me quedo con el Patronato"

Translates to:
"I say, how do you say, a joke. Of course, I keep the Board"

I think Pat was joking PJ
