Both Broadmeadow Magic and Edgeworth Eagles FC will represent Northern NSW on the Westfield FFA Cup national stage for a third time after winning their respective Round of 32 deciders.
Broadmeadow Magic FC 3 (Paul 46’, Virgili 69’ 87’) def. Coffs City United FC 1 (Lambert 48’)
Broadmeadow Magic will represent Northern NSW in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 for the third time after defeating Coffs City United 3-1 at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.
With both teams only having 1 days’ rest, both coaches elected to make changes to their starting line ups which took the park on Saturday for Round 6. Broadmeadow had the better of the first half, controlling large amounts of possession and creating a number of chances which they were unable to convert with the score remaining nil-nil at the break.
With a chance to regroup at half time, Broadmeadow came out for the second half looking to make amends for the missed opportunities in the first half. Shane Paul ensured they wouldn’t have to wait long, picking up the scraps after placing a shot in the bottom right hand corner to give Broadmeadow the lead.
Coffs City refused to drop the heads, hitting back straight away courtesy of Nick Lambert (48’) who volleyed home after a 30 yard strike from Scott Goddard was parried by Magic keeper, Nick Giantsopoulos.
Despite the setback, Broadmeadow took control of the match as Coffs showed signs of tiring after their extra time win over Cardiff City Tigers on Saturday. Magic would restore their lead in the 69th minute with after James Virgili hammered a bouncing ball into the bottom left hand corner after Jon Griffiths drove into the area before cutting the ball back.
Broadmeadow would seal the match in the 87th minute when James Virgili was able to get on the end of a long ball and bundle the ball passed the Coffs keeper, extending the Magic lead.
Edgeworth Eagles FC 1 (Cawley 29’) def. Maitland FC 0
Edgeworth FC joined Broadmeadow Magic in the last 32 after defeating fellow PS4 NPL Northern NSW outfit Maitland FC 1-0.
Edgeowrth coach Damien Zane named an unchanged starting line up from the one which dispatched of the Lambton Jaffas in Saturday’s Round 6 clash, whilst Phil Dando made three changes, including starting former Hyundai A-League championship winner Matt Thompson, who was forced to play in headgear due to stitches in his head.
Despite only having two days’ rest from their respective Round 6 clashes, both teams showed little signs of fatigue as the game ebbed and flowed from one end to the other. Edgeworth would however start to take control midway through the half and were took the deserved lead in the 28th minute when Keiran Sanders attracted four defenders in the box before cutting back to Adam Cawley who managed to slide his shot past Trott into the bottom right hand corner.
Maitland’s best chance of the half would come in the 35th minute when Edgeworth keeper, Nate Cavaliere, was adjudged to have stepped outside of his area when clearing the ball from his hands, however Matt Thompson’s powerful freekick just went over the bar.

Warriors slay Knights to snare Round of 32 spot

The Olympia Warriors put in a brilliant display to defeat the Glenorchy Knights 4-2 and claim the Lakoseljac Cup and advance as Tasmania's entrant into the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Round of 32.
The Warriors came flying out of the blocks, moving the ball with a tremendous purpose and playing a frenetic tempo that overwhelmed their Championship opponents. The Knights were struggling to get a hold of the ball and after 10 minutes they fell behind.
A Warren Wadawu corner was met by the head of Jake Vandermey and the Warriors skipper made no mistake, rifling in a powerful header than snuck past the despairing hand of Nester.
It was all one way traffic as Cartwright and Mearns bossed the midfield and allowed their side to dominate the contest. At the back Hill and Stevens were winning everything that came their way.
It would have been 2-0 after 20 minutes if not for Nester. The Knights keeper made a huge double save to deny Undy and then Sklenar on the rebound before moments later again coming up huge to deny Sklenar in a one on one.
He could do nothing on the half hour mark when the Warriors finally got the second goal their play deserved, he got in behind Harrison, who then seemingly recovered, but the Czech striker spied a gap at the near post and with the outside of the boot he finessed it home.
Knights finally had a chance to pull one back just before the half when Brown sparked to life down the left but he found the side netting when he needed to pick out Engels in the middle. Allsopp had the only other chance of the half but opted for placement rather than power and Cole got down to deny him.
Undy then should have secured the game for the Warriors when he danced past a pair of defenders but with the net gaping from 6 yards out he opted to shoot with the outside of the boot rather than with his left and somehow conspired to turn it past the post.

Canberra Olympic have qualified for a second successive Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 spot, beating Tuggeranong United 2-0 at Deakin Stadium.
The PlayStation 4 NPL Capital Football ladder leaders put in a dominant performance, and Robbie Cattanach's brace saw Frank Cachia’s squad come out on top to put them into the Round of 32.
After a high intensity start from both sides, Olympic fired the first warning shot, with Tom McLachlan sending in a curling effort that didn't test Tom Barton in goals. Sean Murphy’s side looked to absorb Olympic’s high pressing game, as Tuggeranong searched for space in behind the NPL leaders using the pace of Aisosa Ihegie and Nikolaos Kalfas on the counter attack.
A strong Olympic side continued to apply pressure, and after a disallowed goal from Stephen Domeneci in the 12th minute, last year’s qualification final winners broke the deadlock after 15 minutes, as Robbie Cattanach snuck a perfectly struck free kick just inside the left post to put his side ahead.
League top scorer Stephen Domeneci continued to trouble the Tuggeranong defence, but the attacker was ruled offside for yet another disallowed goal after 23 minutes.
Tuggeranong’s best chance came in the 28th minute following a number of set pieces for the side, as Andrew Slavich went up for a close range header and was denied only by the Olympic crossbar. Moments later, Daniel Roberts fired in a well-struck long range effort, but Konstantinou pulled out a top-draw save to preserve Olympic’s lead.
The second half began with both sides looking to get an early hold after the break, but it was Olympic who continued to hold sway, frustrating their opponents with their build up play through the middle of the field.
After a number of missed opportunities, Cattanach popped up again, linking up with Jeremy Habtemariam with a silky one-two and calmly taking the ball past Barton; firing home to hand his side a two goal cushion in the 81st minute and put Olympic back into the FFA Cup National round for the second year in a row.
Frank Cachia's side will now look forward to the Round of 32 draw, as Olympic hope to build on the legacy left from last year’s cup run, when they finally bowed out to Sydney FC 3-0 in the semi-final.

Over the next nine days leading up to the Round of 32 draw, get the lowdown on which clubs are in from each of the nine Member Federations. The first cab off the rank – Victoria.
Football Federation Victoria (FFV) was the first Member Federation to determine their Round of 32 entrants back on 24 May.
The four FFV clubs in this year’s Round of 32 represent a heavyweight quartet in the PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria competition. All four have been in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds before, two of whom have previously reached the semi finals, and all four will have big aspirations of making their mark on the national stage in 2017.

Lowdown
Bentleigh Greens find themselves in the Round of 32 for the third time in four years. Two 6-0 results in this year’s Preliminary Rounds were bookended by a couple of closer tussles as they needed extra time to get past Dandenong Thunder and were pushed by Green Gully before eventually prevailing 3-2 to reach the last 32. Matt Thurtell and Andy Brennan were the chief destroyers in the Prelim Rounds, the duo scoring 10 of Bentleigh’s 13 goals.
The team from Melbourne’s south became the first Member Federation club to reach the Westfield FFA Cup Semi Finals in the competition’s inaugural year in 2014 where they succumbed at home to Perth Glory. At the time of writing they were sitting third on the PS4 NPL Victoria ladder behind fellow Round of 32 entrants South Melbourne FC and Heidelberg United.

Lowdown
It’s a second appearance in the Round of 32 for Heidelberg United after their previous venture into the Final Rounds ended at the hands of Melbourne City FC in the 2015 Quarter Finals at a packed Olympic Village, the huge crowd due in part to the hosts fielding Greece international Kostas Katsouranis as a guest player for the match.
The Burgers enjoyed a relatively smooth ride to the Round of 32, comprehensive wins over Moreland Zebras and Knox City was followed by a 3-1 win at home over Kingston City before a peach of a strike from Reuben Way and a Kenny Athiu header saw off rivals Northcote City to secure their passage.
Now back on the national stage, Heidelberg United will surely will be relishing another crack at a Hyundai A-League club. Their Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds scalps to date include Broadmeadow Magic from Northern NSW and Sydney United 58 FC.

Lowdown
Hume City have made it a third consecutive Round of 32 qualification after featuring in the Final Rounds in 2015 and 2016. And they’ve done it easy so far in 2017 with big wins over Langwarrin, Nunawading City, North Sunshine Eagles and Moreland City. 20 goals scored, none conceded in their four Prelim Round matches to date.
Remarkably, in all six of Hume City’s previous matches in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds they have been drawn at home. Only once in those six occasions have they not played at their ABD Stadium ground, that instance coming in 2015 when they hosted their semi final against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.
Last year Hume City’s campaign was again ended by Melbourne Victory, a Besart Berisha penalty the only thing separating the teams as they bowed out in the Round of 16. Now, with veteran captain Nick Hegarty again leading the charge and under the guidance of recently appointed head coach Ufuk Kubilayhan, Hume City will have their sights on another long Cup run.

Lowdown
A proud club with a proud history, South Melbourne produced a comeback that will go down as one of the Westfield FFA Cup matches of all time, let alone the year, to reach this year’s Round of 32.
Staring at a 4-1 deficit against Dandenong City time running out, South Melbourne struck four times to prevail 5-4, Milos Lujic’s winner, which also capped off his hat-trick, coming in the final minute of stoppage time.
That win looks to have also triggered an impressive run of form in the league as at the time of writing South Melbourne sit on top of the PS4 NPL Victoria table after being in the relegation zone earlier in the season.
South Melbourne’s only previous match in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds ended in heartbreak when they were bundled out by Palm Beach SC (now Gold Coast City) 8-7 on penalties in the Round of 32 in 2015.

Over the next nine days leading up to the Round of 32 draw, get the lowdown on which clubs are in from each of the nine Member Federations. The first cab off the rank – Victoria.
Football Federation Victoria (FFV) was the first Member Federation to determine their Round of 32 entrants back on 24 May.
The four FFV clubs in this year’s Round of 32 represent a heavyweight quartet in the PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria competition. All four have been in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds before, two of whom have previously reached the semi finals, and all four will have big aspirations of making their mark on the national stage in 2017.

Lowdown
Bentleigh Greens find themselves in the Round of 32 for the third time in four years. Two 6-0 results in this year’s Preliminary Rounds were bookended by a couple of closer tussles as they needed extra time to get past Dandenong Thunder and were pushed by Green Gully before eventually prevailing 3-2 to reach the last 32. Matt Thurtell and Andy Brennan were the chief destroyers in the Prelim Rounds, the duo scoring 10 of Bentleigh’s 13 goals.
The team from Melbourne’s south became the first Member Federation club to reach the Westfield FFA Cup Semi Finals in the competition’s inaugural year in 2014 where they succumbed at home to Perth Glory. At the time of writing they were sitting third on the PS4 NPL Victoria ladder behind fellow Round of 32 entrants South Melbourne FC and Heidelberg United.

Lowdown
It’s a second appearance in the Round of 32 for Heidelberg United after their previous venture into the Final Rounds ended at the hands of Melbourne City FC in the 2015 Quarter Finals at a packed Olympic Village, the huge crowd due in part to the hosts fielding Greece international Kostas Katsouranis as a guest player for the match.
The Burgers enjoyed a relatively smooth ride to the Round of 32, comprehensive wins over Moreland Zebras and Knox City was followed by a 3-1 win at home over Kingston City before a peach of a strike from Reuben Way and a Kenny Athiu header saw off rivals Northcote City to secure their passage.
Now back on the national stage, Heidelberg United will surely will be relishing another crack at a Hyundai A-League club. Their Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds scalps to date include Broadmeadow Magic from Northern NSW and Sydney United 58 FC.

Lowdown
Hume City have made it a third consecutive Round of 32 qualification after featuring in the Final Rounds in 2015 and 2016. And they’ve done it easy so far in 2017 with big wins over Langwarrin, Nunawading City, North Sunshine Eagles and Moreland City. 20 goals scored, none conceded in their four Prelim Round matches to date.
Remarkably, in all six of Hume City’s previous matches in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds they have been drawn at home. Only once in those six occasions have they not played at their ABD Stadium ground, that instance coming in 2015 when they hosted their semi final against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.
Last year Hume City’s campaign was again ended by Melbourne Victory, a Besart Berisha penalty the only thing separating the teams as they bowed out in the Round of 16. Now, with veteran captain Nick Hegarty again leading the charge and under the guidance of recently appointed head coach Ufuk Kubilayhan, Hume City will have their sights on another long Cup run.

Lowdown
A proud club with a proud history, South Melbourne produced a comeback that will go down as one of the Westfield FFA Cup matches of all time, let alone the year, to reach this year’s Round of 32.
Staring at a 4-1 deficit against Dandenong City time running out, South Melbourne struck four times to prevail 5-4, Milos Lujic’s winner, which also capped off his hat-trick, coming in the final minute of stoppage time.
That win looks to have also triggered an impressive run of form in the league as at the time of writing South Melbourne sit on top of the PS4 NPL Victoria table after being in the relegation zone earlier in the season.
South Melbourne’s only previous match in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds ended in heartbreak when they were bundled out by Palm Beach SC (now Gold Coast City) 8-7 on penalties in the Round of 32 in 2015.

Lowdown
Over 3,000 turned out at nib Stadium back in August 2015 to see Sorrento go down 2-0 to Hyundai A-League outfit Sydney FC in what is the Gulls’ only previous appearance in the Round of 32.
Now they are back in the Final Rounds after qualifying through WA’s Preliminary Rounds. Following a massive first up victory over Woodvale, the Gulls overcame three State League sides – UWA Nedlands, Wanneroo City and Dianella White Eagles to progress.
In Sorrento’s Cup run to the Final Rounds, Sean Canham has proven a formidable force, finding the back of the net in all but one match, his tally including the winner against Dianella White Eagles in the Round of 32 decider.
But Canham is not alone when it comes to goal scoring avenues, and under the reins of former Perth Glory captain and defender Jamie Harnwell, they are sure to also show a resilience in defence.
At the time of writing the Gulls have also been finding some good form of late, defeated just once in PS4 NPL WA since the start of May.

This Saturday afternoon two proud South Australian clubs will battle it out for a spot in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 and a chance to get back on the national stage.
After some entertaining qualifying rounds, and some scintillating moments of football, Adelaide City and MetroStars have emerged as the final two teams standing, as they prepare to contest the Westfield FFA Cup SA Qualifying Final at Coopers Stadium, the home of football in South Australia.
The Westfield FFA Cup in its fourth season, is the main national football knockout cup competition in Australia, and the winner of Saturday’s State Final will earn the right to progress through to the final group of 32 to compete on a national level, and the chance to be crowned Champion of Australia.
MetroStars will be looking to go back-to-back as Cup winnners after defeating Adelaide Comets 1-0 in last year’s Final. But first, they must overcome an Adelaide City side that has been at its marauding best all season.
Both teams boast plenty of talent, and the match promises some great contests between some of the league’s premier players. The highlight will be the duel between City’s dynamic midfielders Nicholas Bucco and Jordan Pudler and Metro’s Liam Wooding and Fabian Barbiero. The quartet have all been in fine form for their respective club.
A clear route to goal will be Metro’s challenge. Their wingers in Christian Esposito, and Matthew Dawber have been able to find a way through the wing channels this season, causing opposing defences some anxious moments with their speed. And (Metro coach) Robbie Saraceno will be hoping more of the same this week, if his side is to progress further in this competition.
But first they will have to negate the powerful City defence led by their central pillars in Matthew Halliday and Paul Blefari and their wing backs in Scott Nagel, who has been a great pick up from Birkalla and Bradley Corbo.
Like their opponents, Metro’s strength lies with their back four led by their captain Michael D’Aloisio, Tim Henderson, Justin Davis and two hundred gamer Anthony Solagna. Their performances have galvanised the team this season. And this week they confront their biggest challenge against the league’s most feared forward formation.

Football fans in South Australia are counting down the days until Adelaide City and MetroStars face-off for a spot in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
As is the case every year, it hasn’t been a straight forward passage for either team to this year’s decider – including a dramatic last minute winner and a penalty shootout.

Football fans in South Australia are counting down the days until Adelaide City and MetroStars face-off for a spot in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
As is the case every year, it hasn’t been a straight forward passage for either team to this year’s decider – including a dramatic last minute winner and a penalty shootout.

Lowdown
The team from Cairns is only the third Member Federation club (along with New South Wales sides Blacktown City and Sydney United 58 FC) to qualify for the Round of 32 every year since the Westfield FFA Cup began back in 2014.
Going by results alone, the Heat appeared rarely troubled in their path to the last 32 as, led by captain and marksman Jamie Carroll, they amassed 13 goals in their three matches.
The one sore point that the club will be determined to rectify is that they are yet to progress past the Round of 32. Being drawn away from home in the first two years did not help, although they came agonisingly close with a gallant penalty shootout loss to the Oakleigh Cannons in Melbourne.
Then last year it was a case of third lucky as they finally drew a home match, only to come up against a rampaging Edgeworth Eagles side from Northern NSW who condemned the Heat to a 3-0 defeat at Barlow Park.
Head Coach Tim Campbell was in charge during that loss to the Edgeworth and there is no doubt the fire will be burning to take FNQ Heat to its best Westfield FFA Cup finish in 2017.
At the time of writing FNQ Heat had lost just one out of seven matches at home in the league this season, a PS4 NPL season where they are currently sitting mid table after 14 rounds.

Similarly to their counterparts FNQ Heat up north, Gold Coast City (formerly Palm Beach Sharks) only needed to get through three matches to qualify for the Final Rounds. In saying that, you still have to win them and they did just that.
After somewhat of a shock defeat to Surfers Paradise Apollo which knocked them out of the Westfield FFA Cup last year, Gold Coast City were not going to be caught out this time around, although Gold Coast Premier League outfit Gold Coast Knights did give them a scare first up, a Jarrod Kyle goal enough to get Gold Coast City over the line.
But from there they showed their class as they accounted for SWQ Thunder and Caloundra FC in emphatic fashion, Kyle bagging six goals in the Preliminary Rounds to go with seven he has scored so far in PS4 NPL Queensland this season.
The club’s most famous Westfield FFA Cup moment came in the Round of 32 in 2015 when they ousted Victorian powerhouse South Melbourne in a thrilling penalty shootout that ended 8-7 at Cbus Super Stadium.
They also reached the Quarter Finals in 2014 but on both of their previous Final Round journeys they have fallen to Hyundai A-League opposition – the Central Coast Mariners in 2014 and Western Sydney Wanderers FC in 2015.
Currently sitting at the top of the table in PS4 NPL Queensland with 11 wins and just one loss next to their name, Gold Coast City will be a formidable opponent for whoever they are drawn against in the Round of 32.

Based an hour’s drive north of the Queensland capital, Peninsula Power are just the second club from outside of PS4 NPL Queensland to qualify for the Round of 32 (Lions FC was the other).
Currently sitting eighth on the Football Brisbane Flight Centre Premier League standings, Peninsula Power has left their best results in the Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds as they stormed into serious Round of 32 calculations in their opening three matches.
Their form in the Preliminary Rounds has been impressive and after beating Grange Thistle in the Round of 32 decider, no one could argue or question their place at the Round of 32 table.
The only goals the Power conceded in the Preliminary Rounds were against Logan Lightning, which saw a grandstand finish with the home side winning a thrilling penalty shootout after scores were locked 2-2 at the end of extra time.
French born striker Charles Mendy and Dean Briggs have been prominent up front for the Power, and they will arguably need to fire if they are to have a chance of causing an upset in their first venture into the Round of 32.

Two Northern NSW clubs who know what the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 is all about will suit up for a third crack in 2017. Get the rundown on Football Northern NSW’s two entrants here.
Both of this year’s Northern NSW Football entrants have featured in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds twice and both have made a statment with some commanding performances against fellow PS4 NPL opposition in the Preliminary Rounds.
The previous year that they both made it through to the Round of 32 together came in 2015, so it’s back to the future as two of the most established clubs in PS4 NPL Northern NSW prepare to line up again with 20 other Member Federation clubs aspiring to go on a magical run in the Westfield FFA Cup.

Broadmeadow Magic come into the Final Rounds with a point to prove. Twice they have been drawn to host in the Round of 32, and both times they have been on the wrong side of the score line at the first hurdle.
The club played in the first ever feature match of the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 when they hosted Brisbane Strikers at Magic Park in front of a national audience watching on Fox Sports.
Despite a spirited performance, Broadmeadow were edged out 2-1 and the following year they suffered a 3-1 defeat to a highly talented Heidelberg United outfit at the same venue.
After missing out last year, they find themselves back in the mix thanks to a convincing run through the Preliminary Rounds.
Former Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory midfielder Ruben Zadkovich took charge at the start of this year and has put his no nonsense, tireless playing traits into his team.
Zadkovich has blooded a number of youngsters this year and with the likes of the Virgili brothers Luke and James, veterans James Piddington and Peter Haynes, and the recent signing of Perth Glory and former Joeys midfielder Mitch Oxborrow, the future looks bright for a proud club with high expectations.
The question is can they make their mark in the Westfield FFA Cup and get out of the Round of 32 for the first time? The club's dedicated and committed group of volunteers and supporters will be hoping so.

And they are back in the Round of 32 for a third straight time in 2017 after booking their spot with a tough 1-0 win over Maitland FC in Round 7.

Two Northern NSW clubs who know what the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 is all about will suit up for a third crack in 2017. Get the rundown on Football Northern NSW’s two entrants here.
Both of this year’s Northern NSW Football entrants have featured in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds twice and both have made a statment with some commanding performances against fellow PS4 NPL opposition in the Preliminary Rounds.
The previous year that they both made it through to the Round of 32 together came in 2015, so it’s back to the future as two of the most established clubs in PS4 NPL Northern NSW prepare to line up again with 20 other Member Federation clubs aspiring to go on a magical run in the Westfield FFA Cup.

WHAT IS THE FFA CUP?
The FFA Cup pits 32 of Australia’s best professional, semi-professional and amateur clubs against each other in a knockout competition to crown the champions of the country.
Hundreds of Member Federations clubs face-off in the preliminary rounds, before 22 teams join the 10 A-League clubs to battle it out in the knockout stages and eventually the FFA Cup final.
HOW DOES THE TOURNAMENT WORK?
Every state is allocated a different number of spots in the Round of 32 (as per below).
Each state determines their Round of 32 entrants through up to seven preliminary knockout rounds - so even the deep grassroots are involved!
From there, the 32 clubs vie in the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semi finals and FFA Cup final.
CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR?
Football Federation Victoria had to add another round of additional preliminary matches to cater for the 217 teams entered, as opposed to 203 last year. A record number of 83 clubs also registered in Northern NSW.
HOW MANY CLUBS TRIED TO QUALIFY FOR THE ROUND OF 32?
This year a record 721 clubs competed in this year’s Preliminary Rounds. Once you add the A-League clubs and Sydney United 58 FC - rewarded for their National Premier League win - the total will see 732 teams whittled down to 32.

Olympia FC Warriors' last appearance in a national competition came when they competed in the PS4 NPL 2015 Finals Series. Drawn to face South Melbourne away from home in the Elimination Finals, they stunned the Victorian heavyweights 2-1 in what will go down as one of the club’s greatest victories.
Now 18 months later they are in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 for the first time under the tutelage of coach Kenny Weston, who was previously Football Federation Tasmania’s National Development Centre coach. Weston was appointed on 4 May this year in somewhat controversial circumstances after his predecessor Ian Shaw was sacked seven rounds into the season despite the Warriors sitting on top of the table.
The new Warriors boss inherited a squad that many locals believe is the best in Tasmania. With that comes an expectation to succeed, of which qualifying for the Round of 32 was one such box predicted to be ticked off.
This task became somewhat less difficult after two of the other fancied contenders, Devonport Strikers and South Hobart, were knocked out in the earlier rounds. Olympia eliminated their other main challenger Hobart Zebras in Round 6 before coming up against the surprise packet and Cinderella story of the Preliminary Rounds, Glenorchy Knights, in the Round of 32 decider.
A 4-2 result ensued and now they have their sights set on the Round of 32.
Former Czech professional Jakub Sklenar is arguably one of the key men in a talented squad. Sklenar scored six goals in a 12-0 win over Nelson earlier in Olympia’s Cup campaign which included a hat-trick in the opening 20 minutes, and he will look forward to testing himself against much tougher opposition when the Round of 32 kicks off.
Olympia FC currently sit third on the PS4 NPL Tasmania table behind Devonport Strikers and South Hobart.
