The good and the bad of the Tasmanian draw.

Good: It's a home tie
Bad: It's going to be played at KGV Park which cannot be 'pitch-doctored' as it is synthetic and as such, APIA will probably win comfortably.

A couple of enthralling Member Federation v Hyundai A-League club match-ups highlight the fixtures in the Westfield Cup Round of 32.
Monday, 3 July 2017 -
Staff writer
Two enthralling Member Federation v Hyundai A-League club matchups, on back-to-back nights, both of which will be broadcast LIVE on FOX SPORTS, headline the schedule for the 16 fixtures of this year’s Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
Victorian club Heidelberg United will welcome Perth Glory to Olympic Village on Tuesday 1 August before current PlayStation 4 NPL NSW league leaders Blacktown City host the Central Coast Mariners the following night at Lily’s Football Centre.

The last time a Westfield FFA Cup Final Round match was held at Olympic Village a crowd of 11,372 packed in to watch Heidelberg United, who had Greece international Kostas Katsouranis in their line-up, take on Melbourne City FC back in 2015.

The Central Coast Mariners will be looking to avoid a repeat of their shock Round of 32 loss to Green Gully last year, while for Blacktown City it is another opportunity to try and topple a Hyundai A-League opponent after coming up short against Sydney FC in last year’s Quarter Finals.

South Melbourne’s Cup tie against Northern NSW outfit Edgeworth Eagles at Lakeside Stadium will be the FOX SPORTS broadcast match on the traditional all-Member Federation opening night.

The other three matches scheduled to kick start the Round of 32 on Wednesday 26 July will see Round of 32 debutantes Hills United and Bankstown Berries host Hakoah Sydney City East and South Australia’s MetroStars respectively, with last season’s semi finalists Canberra Olympic heading west to face the Jamie Harnwell coached Sorrento at Percy Doyle Reserve.

Night two features the David and Goliath contest between Brisbane Premier League side Peninsula Power and reigning Westfield FFA Cup winners Melbourne City FC at Dolphin Stadium, Tasmania’s entrant Olympia Warriors FC host APIA Leichhardt Tigers, while for the second year in a row Western Sydney Wanderers FC will meet Wellington Phoenix at Campbelltown Stadium.

Queensland’s Wolter Park and Mallawa Sporting Complex will both host matches on night three (2 August) as the home venues of Moreton Bay United and Gold Coast City, while Sydney FC will head to the Top End to face Northern Territory entrant Darwin Rovers FC at Darwin Football Stadium.

Rounding off the Round of 32 on Wednesday 9 August is an all-Victorian PS4 NPL blockbuster between former Westfield FFA Cup semi-finalists Hume City and Bentleigh Greens at ABD Stadium, with Sydney United 58 FC and FNQ Heat to do battle in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds for the second time at Sydney United Sports Centre.

The final two matches are all Hyundai A-League affairs as Brisbane Roar FC host 2015 Westfield FFA Cup winners Melbourne Victory in the boutique surroundings of Perry Park, and inaugural Cup holders Adelaide United take on the Newcastle Jets at Marden Sports Complex.

As well as broadcasting one match LIVE and exclusive in full on each match night, FOX SPORTS will also LIVE stream and provide updates and crosses of all other matches. Broadcast and LIVE streaming details will be released closer to the opening match night.

Ticketing information for each of the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 Round of 32 matches will be released in due course by each home club. Please visit www.theffacup.com.au for further details.

Reigning Hyundai A-League Champions Sydney FC will travel to the Northern Territory to face Darwin Rovers in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
Wednesday, 5 July 2017 -
Josh Bennett @JoshBennett50
The Westfield FFA Cup is back on the national stage and the 2017 edition promises to be the competition’s best yet.
Kicking off in February, more than 730 teams entered this year’s tournament which has now been whittled down to the final 32 teams.

And with the Round of 32 set to kick off on July 26, we look ahead and pick out four matches which loom as must-see clashes!

SOUTH MELBOURNE V EDGEWORTH EAGLES (Danny McBreen)

Wed July 26, 8pm, Lakeside Stadium, VIC

#SOMvEDG

Victorian PS4 NPL heavyweights South Melbourne host high-flying Newcastle-based Edgeworth Eagles in the televised fixture on the opening night of the Round of 32.

FFA CUP HISTORY

*South Melbourne’s only previous match in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds ended in heartbreak when they were bundled out by Palm Beach SC (now Gold Coast City) 8-7 on penalties in the Round of 32 in 2015.

*Edgeworth went close to knocking off Melbourne City FC in the Round of 32 in 2015 where only two cracking Aaron Mooy free kicks rescued the A-League side from an embarrassing defeat.

Then last year, they headed north to Cairns and put three goals past FNQ Heat before succumbing to Western Sydney Wanderers FC in the Round of 16.

PENINSULA POWER v MELBOURNE CITY

Tues August 1, 7.30pm, Dolphin Stadium, QLD

#PENvMCY

In a David v Goliath battle, Brisbane Premier League side Peninsula Power play host to reigning Champions Melbourne City on matchday two.

FFA CUP HISTORY

*Peninsula Power are making their debut in the Round of 32 and are just the second side from outside of the QLD PS4 NPL (Lions FC were the other) to reach this stage of the competition.

*Melbourne City won the title in 2016 against Sydney FC. They were knocked out by Glory in the 2015 Semi-Finals and failed to progress from the Round of 32 in 2014.

BLACKTOWN CITY v CENTRAL COAST MARINERS

WED AUGUST 2, 7.30PM, LILLY’S FOOTBALL CENTRE, NSW

#BLCvCCM

PS4 NPL NSW outfit Blacktown City – led by ex-Mariner MATT LEWIS – will fancy their chances of an upset against Paul Okon’s Mariners side on home soil.

FFA CUP HISTORY

*Blacktown City made an impressive run to the QFs last year before being knocked out by Sydney FC. Qualified for both the 2014 and 2015 editions but failed to progress past the Round of 32.

*Central Coast Mariners suffered a shock loss to NPL outfit Green Gully in 2016 in the Round of 32. Knocked out in the Round of 32 by Wellington in 2015. Progressed to the semi-finals of the 2014 edition before losing to eventual champions Adelaide Untied.

HUME CITY V BENTLEIGH GREENS

Wed August 9, 7.30pm, ABD Stadium, VIC

#HCIvBGR

Two hugely successful sides from Victoria’s PS4 NPL meet in a winner takes all clash at ABD Stadium on matchday four.

FFA CUP HISTORY

*Hume City reached the Semi-Finals in 2015 where they fell to eventual winners Melbourne Victory. Hume made the last 16 in 2016 where they were also knocked out by Victory.

*Bentleigh Greens were the first non A-League team to reach the FFA Cup Semis in 2014 where they beaten by Perth Glory. They progressed to the Quarter Finals in 2016 where they were defeated by Melbourne Victory.

The Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 kicks off on Wednesday night.
Tuesday, 25 July 2017 -
Staff writer
The Australian football spotlight will turn to the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 tomorrow night (Wednesday 26 July 2017) as eight aspiring Member Federation clubs dream of continuing a magical Cup.
The night’s headline match, which will be broadcast LIVE on FOX SPORTS (Channel 505), features proud former NSL club South Melbourne hosting Edgeworth Eagles, the Northern NSW outfit competing in the Round of 32 for the third straight year, at Lakeside Stadium.

Your ‘how to watch’ FFA Cup guide

How to get around the Westfield FFA Cup!

It will also be a special night for two clubs from New South Wales’ second division (PS4 NPL 2), Hills United and Bankstown Berries, as they prepare to make their debuts in the Westfield FFA Cup Final Rounds.

Hills United, whose squad comprises a host of former and current Futsalroos including captain Greg Giovenali, take on Hakoah Sydney City East, coached by ex Scottish international Gavin Rae, who played in the 2008 FA Cup Final for Cardiff City.

hills-brumbies_1tek24zxicrtu1hgd823sw1a2w.jpg

Bankstown Berries were one of the first football clubs formed in Sydney back in 1886, and the club that has seen the likes of Johnny Warren, Graham Arnold, Charlie Yankos and John Watkiss pass through their ranks, find themselves on the national stage hosting South Australia’s Round of 32 entrant MetroStars at Bankstown’s Jensen Park.

The Berries beat former NSL club Sydney Olympic to qualify for this stage and they will need to cause another upset to overcome a MetroStars side making their third straight Round of 32 appearance.

The night’s final match, which kicks off 30 minutes later, sees WA side Sorrento at home to last year’s semi finalists, Canberra Olympic.

ffa-cup-crowd-canberra-olympic_1xdyffzjey6v313ly3bsxwj7tq.jpg

Coached by former Perth Glory defender Jamie Harnwell, the Gulls will be hoping a vocal home crowd can give them the edge against a Canberra Olympic side led by cult figure, penalty taking goalkeeper Angelo Konstantinou. Ominously, Canberra Olympic currently sit six points clear at the top of their league table.

Opening night of the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 has traditionally become Member Federation night and with the clubs and players having the chance to add themselves to the growing list of Westfield FFA Cup folklore, it promises to be a night not to be missed.

On top of a full broadcast of the match between South Melbourne and Edgeworth Eagles, FOX SPORTS will have LIVE updates and crosses to the other three matches, which will also be streamed at https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/ffa-cup/live-stream.

Edgeworth where better team in 1st half and missed some shots including Danny who couldn't wrap his foot around a shot from a 6-8yrds out.

SM came out firing and dominated the 2nd half

I grew up in the Hiils but the Brumbies didn't exist then. They led Hakoa 3 times. 3-3 draw but have conceed 3 more in extra time (5mins to go). Blacktown was the team to play for when growing up. So can't loose next week

Bankstown Berries beat metro 2-1. Metro also scored on last kick of game. NPL2 win

Canberra Olympic loosing to the WA team

Syd for all the stuff you've written on the cup surely you get yourself a 2 week trial and then a month or two of Foxtel now for the cup you can watch all games live or on replay or hit the pub

thank's but i can't stand listening to haper & zelic.
Mute bro
But they weren't doing any that I noticed today.

Think it was speedy and Colosimo did the Edgeworth game and were crossing to Garby for the goals. Cockrill was doing one of the other games.

Also at least they talk about kebabs and souvlaki when talking crap
