Olly out was a monumental swing in their favour.
I thought Staj left the subs too late but in saying that also understand why he did. Janota was positive and tried to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
the lads gave it their all against a team that parked the bus pretty well. And we don’t do well in that situation this season. I don’t care about the 2nd goal because it came after we committed almost every one and kye collapsed on the turn. Hope he’s alright for the olympics.

Sucks we lost tonight, but the atmosphere and the bay in particular was beautiful. Brought back glorious memories and in the end this team was hugely successful in finishing 3rd and at a certain time for a sustained period got us believing we could be champions again. Keep things in perspective gents, although I know it’s hard right now.

now let us pray the team doesn’t get completely ripped apart.

Also can someone that watched at home explain how close Boumans goal was to on side
At the stadium in real time seemed perfectly fine and the big screen looked perfectly fine. Tight, but fine.

We were pretty ordinary tonight and as usual we have absolutely nothing in the final third. Urena looked like our only chance of a goal. Not having Ruon and Oli killed us tonight.

Birraz made one superb save.
Our full backs were both gash. Rowles was good, Hall was good but needs to be careful with some silly fouls/pushing.
I was very disappointed with DDS tonight.
Niz did ok but doesn't have the smarts of a Bozanic yet.
Stens was good and my MOM.
Simon was ok but didn't look like scoring.
Urena is a smart Footballer.
Bouman was frustrating again

Subs:
Kuol. Did nothing.
Miller. I probably would have started him over Nigro.
Janota. Thanks mate and have a good flight home.
Hatch. Looked bang average.

I think we made a mistake not giving Casella some minutes as our drive into the box was woeful and Jaden is direct.

100% we need to buy a proper 9 next season.

Massive Kudos to Pete, Eggy, Jimmy and the boys in Bay 16. You were awesome and the whole bay was rocking. I hope it sounded good on TV.

To the bloke who said f**k off and don't come back next season when I was venting my disdain towards the team at the game's end, (to which I told him he could go and fornicate with himself)-

My apologies mate. I don't know who you are- or even if you post on here- but FWIW I've been supporting this team since 2005 and unless I have an invitation that sits me elsewhere, Bay 16 is always the place I go to when I watch CCM at home. It's because of people like yourself (I'm presuming), people like Prior and Eggy and Josh and all the others that nights like tonight have me channelling my inner Claude Cagliari (RIP big fella). My hands are blistered, my voice has gone thin and everybody in that Bay did such a great job supporting this club- not just tonight, but this whole season, and many faithfully showed up during the wasted years of 2015-2020. Beyond just selfishly wanting my team to win the sports ball game, I saw the crowd tonight and the casuals and everybody and we deserved so much f**king better from the team we support, considering the opponents, the circumstances and the occasion itself.

To see the boys surrender so meekly is just inexcusable in my books. I dearly hope this season isn't just a one-off like the Jest had in 2017/18. I hope 12 months from now we get another chance for a big night in at our home ground like tonight. But we don't know yet. We aren't SFC or City- we can't confidently say "there's always next season" because next season may be a return to mediocrity. Every club has it's fans but it shits me to see these 5 minute old cowbell ringers enjoying the finals dream for another week at the expense of supporters like ours. I hope this club has other big finals matches in the near future because if any fans deserve more than what we saw tonight, it's ours. And you bet your arse I'll criticise this team where I think it's deserved, as one of those supporters.

Peace.

Mighty pleased we made it to third place on the ladder. We’re a proud regional team that gives it to the big boppers week in, week out.

Thank you Mariners for all the pleasure you gave me this season. I’ve enjoyed following the lad’s journey, corresponding with fans on forums, & generally looking forward to supporting my awesome club. Cheers, Staj, cheers boys.

Our club needs so many more passionate fans like you, the hardcore yellow army boys and most on this forum. It drove me up the wall when that second goal went in and majority of the crowd headed for the exit. What you can’t wait 2minutes and applaud your only pro sports team for an overall brilliant season after years of shit for atleast a minute?
Far too many fair weather people on the coast. Including my own mates I went with tonight.

One of those ones that's tough enough that var wouldn't overrule either decision I think.
Shit, another 30min
Well, words cannot describe that performance. I cannot believe what I just witnessed with a near capacity quite vocal supportive crowd (capacity of stadium wasn't even mentioned) Not forgetting a team one man down, we having ample time to get our damn shit together and put balls in the back of the net. Not across, over and the side of the net a play we seemed to favour rather than try to win. No doubt whoever was responsible for showing stadium attendance it was a bit beyond them after using up all their fingers and toes. Shocker absolute shocker, having come so far to collapse in an abysmal heap was unbelievable, we beat Methcarthur Cow in all games except the most important one. So many brilliant games in the season by the boys but I am afraid that I will be burying that memory in the depths of my grey matter only to be ever revealed again if I, God forbid get Alzheimers.

So it ended -has been helluva ride with many ups and a few downs.Tonight was the ultimate downer in front of a great crowd.

Ball movement too slow especially when we had the one man advantage. Also for the first fifteen to twenty minutes the team was very tentative.Their disallowed goal in the 1st half was only marginally so and in second half they botched a header on an open goal.

How Franjic managed to cross to an unmarked player in the box when he was confronted by two of our players near the corner flag completely nonplussed me.Rowles left that player alone for too long when he collected the cross and was able to shoot leading to the goal..

Anyway what an improvement so congratulations to the team, coaches, club officials and management and the long suffering supporters ,especially forumites. There is always next season.

TBH mate, by the time the final whistle sounded I was at the top of Bay 16 and that was when I let fly with some choice words uttered at maximum decibels and the verbal altercation happened. Then I left. I congratulated the boys after FT last week against Western United on a great season, but tonight was different and I would've felt like a complete hypocrite staying back to clap the team off after the way they meekly surrendered. As long as the boys show fight, I will ALWAYS show my appreciation in return. But tonight was not one of those nights and I expected so much better.

For everyone bagging the team and saying we laid down, give yourself an uppercut. We did as best we could tonight. We didn't have the luck or the skill to make the chances that fell to us count. It happens. They spent a he'll of a lot more on their team than we did and we beat them 3 times out of 4. Another night and Rowles burys that shot, or one of the 18 crosses we deliver actually hit the spot (I'll actually take anywhere near the spot) or we put Stens on corners like the last game we played, or Urena sneaks that ball through to DDS, or Kuol doesn't slip over in the box......etc, etc.
It's not the teams fault. Shit happens. They've over delivered this year, let's be honest.

Also, Bouman's goal was an actual goal. The defender played at the ball which puts Bouman onside (he was a fair way offside from Simon's pass) I pointed out to someone earlier that we had a goal against us ruled out in the exact same circumstance against Sydney in April which would have lead to a loss. Harsh way to make up for it but that goal should have stood and we should have won in normal time.

Your an idiot first for obviously going a bit too far in slagging off the team that's brought us the best season of football in 7 years, and you've either had too much to drink or you just need to see the replay without the red mist of live football.

I must have watched a different game. I don't think we played that bad at all. We conceded a goal from a bad defensive mistake, we didn't have arguably our two best players out there. We sustained the pressure of the first half to come out and dominate them in the second. Yeah, we didn't score, but we had chances just lacked the final touch.

Yeah 100%. I think a few people will wake up regretting a few of their actions and words tomorrow. I've done it before.
