It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

What a shithouse performance that was to supposedly celebrate the life of little Archie King, he would have likely been very disappointed watching down from on high tonight.

If nothing else, that should have inspired our boys to give everything tonight, let alone it being a damn derby.

I am really despising this bloody 4-2-2-2 formation that Staj is so wedded to, given the reliance it places on the FB’s to provide the attacking emphasis when neither of our proponents are good enough to carry that burden.
We never lift for derbies, they do.
Staj is too inflexible and looks like he may have lost yet another dressing room

Well that was f**king shite. I took 16 people there tonight. 4 had never been to a Mariners game before and I doubt they will want to go again.

People are getting on Kye's back for his relatively poor clearing header....thats bullshit....our midfield were responsible for that goal.
In fact our Midfield were absolutely owned tonight.
Only 3 players got a pass mark tonight. Kye, Hall and Miller.
Urena did Ok and Casella at least attacked with speed.

I absolutely fancied us tonight but we were flat and soft. True Believer crushed my hand in his steel fixers grip of a handshake....He fancied us and i did too. Thank God the TAB at the Elanora is not easy accessable atm or I would have done a $100 note as well.

I reckon the team was missing some steel. We were soft. The ref let the heavy stuff go and no one got stuck in. We do have reason to be careful though because we need to play further than the weekend where as the Jest don't have anything other than pride to play for.
This. Too frustrated to have anything worthwhile saying otherwise. What a disappointing night.

Something was missing tonight the midfield were just not tracking back and kept getting caught up field...

There first two goals we had no one tracking their runners maybe we got use to the centre backs clearing the ball into safe zones...

The lack of fouls by the ref was terrible tonight and Matty was constantly fouled with nothing given.... he was starting to fire up over it and my guess is why he was replaced at half time.... he is needed for the finals assuming we make em...

Its nights like this when you realise how important DDS is to the side we just could not break them down...

I saw my Daughter and her mate walking back to their car after the game. The first thing she said to me was Simon was absolutely shit tonight......i couldn't disagree but add Kuol, Nigro, Bouman, Clisby (apart from that one sublime strike) and Birraz to that list. Stens, Niz and Olli were also decidedly average.

Birraz was slow to react tonight for the two goals.Clisby lost ROD for the first goal but did make some good runs down the wing.Rowles did the weak clearance for the first goal but was otherwise steady.Nigro was tentative in attack and defence.Hall looked competent and has pace-he will have benefited from that run.
Stensness battled hard and had a real duel with Thurgate( maybe Thurgate just shaded him).Ollie was caught in possession a few times and looked frustrated.Nisbet had a shocker-looked like a very average NPL player on tonight's performance and could not handle the physicality of the Jets players.Bouman looked clumsy and lost the ball too often.
Urena worked hard and tried to spark the attack but had little support as Matty was completely dominated by Boogard and NTS.Kuol was in his own world which was not at the game in hand.

Miller did sterling work in attack-he is a strong bugger with some ball skills but could not find the final pass.Janota did look clever and I would have liked him on about 15 minutes earlier.Casella made little impression and Smylie only had a few minutes and hardly touched the ball.

All in all a disappointing and spineless performance.

Well, it's clear that one team turned up for an F3 Derby. And it wasn't us. Derbys are rarely pretty. But we seemed to want to play pretty football rather than effective football.

Two very soft goals.

Great to catch up with some old pals on an otherwise dire night.

Scummers are still shite.

I said this many times about LFC between January and March of this year. Yet somehow they turned it around in time and finished 3rd somehow.

Highly unlikely CCM miss the finals and that is still 100% in their hands.

Great to see you in the bay. Even got the celery chant up in your honour. Amazed to see so many perplexed faces around who never heard that chant before.

Everyone is undoubtably hurting, as this was a derby we were meant to win. I wonder if we took our ladder ascendancy for granted, & we underestimated the Jets? I’d like to say we’ve learnt our lesson. Credit must go to the Gosford crowd - your brave attendance on a cold night was noted. Onwards & upwards, Mariners.

We were owned in the midfield. DDSs attack forces opposition to think twice in midfield. Without that the middle looked very ordinary.

Mitigating circumstances would be
1) DDSs absence
2) flatness after two very tense games that probably took more out of the team than was realised

The other worrying aspect was the team couldn't see what wasn't working (crosses aimed at Matty) with the possible exception of Urena who often drifted wide and pushed Bouman into the middle. The balls to Matty were just hopeful and wasted with Boogs and NTS winning everything. It seemed to be only the last 20 minutes when we tried to get in behind their defence.

Got home a couple of hours ago and still not game to watch the replay... what. the. actual. f**k. was that.
Having faced the pitch from Bay 16 all game, there's not much to take from the replay that you couldn't gather from here. Just a lack of the necessary attitude required to get the win, with sloppy defence costing them the goals. Not too dissimilar to the home game against the Victory a few months back.

I wasn’t able to catch the game and by the sounds of it I don’t think I’ll bother with anything more than the mini match.

What is it with this team not getting up for the ’easy’ games?

For anyone thinking Staj might be off it would most likely be Perth IMO but I’m not sure it’s that. Although with the lack of extension talk who knows what’s getting under players skin at the moment. Have to get past it ASAP though because WU will still make us earn our points.

Enough of the goo feasting and conspiracies.Time to be analytic.
Last night's performance was crap.
Too many things worked against us and they showed.
1- We could not lift for a third time in 3 games. The last two games the team gave 100% and played above themselves. Last night was a bridge too far. Olly especially looked tired.
2- The strategic timed release of the rumour of DDS going to the Bulls was a low act by Macarthur. and obviously affected the squad's mental state. Add to that missing Ruon would not have helped the confidence even though Hall filled in well.
3- For the first 20 minutes Newcastle played with flair with nothing to lose. They played a game that has always unsettled our team even going back to the days when Roar under Ange used to do it. They continually attacked the player in possession with a swarming forward defence. Usually they usually run out of puff and if it can be withstood for the the first 20 to 30 mins ascendency can be regained. Last night we conceded and did not have the attacking firepower to get back in the game.
4- Newcastle were allowed to play a physical game with the ref allowing many fouls. They used these tactics to stop Matty holding the ball and the ref allowed it.

I do not think too much should be read into players blowing up and not shaking hands when subbed. They were totally pissed off with the performance. I would have been more concerned if they accepted it with no emotion.

I will post later about what I saw in our on field tactics and individual performances.

Lifting for the next game will be vital and will tell us a lot about finals hopes. Personally I am hopeful without being overly optimistic, however I have been surprised many times this season.
