Round 2 Methcarthur away

I didn’t mind the bells but I wasn’t at the game. It annoyed the hell out of my wife.

They are something unique for the league and better than sone of the generic chants you get.

I am sure the kids love them as well. Macarthur seem to be the only Sydney team trying to cultivate a family atmosphere. I wish them the best.

Their bells would be better if they managed to get a few of the larger variety.
Anyone familiar with them would think of the excitement and fear of the downhill and the super G.
What they have now is a bit insipid.

Second goal was scored by subs, defender to mid to striker. I liked that. Direct and effective. I can't get over how hard Nizz, Stens, Olli went all day, backing straight up. We look fit. DDS goal was great, he’s taken a few pops now, he’s obviously been told to be more of goal threat. Fun game. I like winning!

Early in the game for a good while before DDS scored I was going to comment on what a good performance he was having but I was watching the game a little delayed so didn't want to be come on and see spoilers.

May it continue, if he hits even just some of his potential in a regular way it will pay off for both him and us. Happy to see it.

Something I haven’t seen mentioned is how much that goal appeared to mean to DDS. Hopefully it can be a turning point for him combined with his new role.

he’s copped a lot of stick over the years, We’ve all given it to him at some point. He would’ve seen it, heard it and learnt to deal with it. I’m sure he would also know he’s capable of playing at a higher level.
He’s still a fantastic player, I noticed his passion in the celebration and I love this sport so much because of those moments. I genuinely hope he scores more goals and has a great season, he always runs his absolute arse off and clearly trains hard. He does deserve it.

. that goal should demonstrate a few things which hopefully will see more meaningful output from DDS:
  • ball to feet (from Niz) - we have all seen how ineffective our high crosses have been in recent years
  • timing is more important than presence - DDS is often present around the box, typically with the ball at his feet running into an effective screen
  • interplay does not mean dumping the ball on someone else when you have tried everything yourself but keep hitting a wall
. separate but related note: DDS made a couple of powerful passes/shots - I honestly didn't think he could kick a ball further than about 10 yards (and even then not with much power) ... but it looks like he actually can

. it almost seems like the powers that be have finally been able to influence his mindset (is this related to the end of any Roma deal?)

It tracks with the rest of the team. Tongyik, Rowles, Stensness, Nisbet, Clisby, DDS all look to be in a better place this season. Obviously been a lot of work behind the scenes on that and doesn’t seem to affected by Ziggy departing.

Exactly what I thought too.
He hit one against the Jets too.

Thanks i knew it was some reason
re ollie dropping into central defence; lots of good reasons, including
- it can give ollie or the CD's a bit of a break,
- can allow fullbacks to get forward, using a back 3, or just covers while they are getting back
- also allows him to assert himself as the boss

Ollie obviously has confidence that the mids can hold the fort whilst he is not there

I think that’s exactly what’s happened.

That one call I heard from the sideline when he dithered just a little on the ball looking for a creative way through... the pass had been on and he was then forced to pass late and it was cut out.

Sideline- assume it was Staj - yells -
Simple Danny!!

They’re focusing on him doing the simple things well. Not telling him he’s a creative gun while all and sundry around him tell him he should be playing at another level and or club.

Now it’s my hope, after possibly some, or maybe a whole lot of shit advice, with things not going the way he must have hoped in his development and career, he’s listening, (always worked hard imo) but it’s when you do the simple things well, that the other stuff builds off the back of it.

That’s what’s driven all the criticism I’ve read on here of him. His failure to play a ball that was on and do the simple things well instead of confusing himself and his team mates and slowing down the play when he would endlessly pivot and change direction.

He seemed well suited as a player to okon ball. But it only cemented bad habits for him.

Also Tongyiks distribution deserves a shout out. A number of times when they tried to pressured our fullbacks to stop us from playing out and moving the ball up field, instead of hoofing a long ball, he instead hit a long straight pass on the ground perfectly to feet for one of our forwards or mids.

Was very effective,

Some of DDS passing out of tight spaces and I think one to create for Clisby were just special. Obviously his confidence and the confidence of those around him makes a huge difference. Crazy to say too but I reckon Ollie has changed this team. The energy and confidence he brings to our midfield now is intangible. He and Stens are looking like a very formidable combination.

And fkn Bozza virtually called him a bully on air , dickhead babbled something like “ Simon wouldn’t dare try something like that on Franjic” ....I think he would to be fair
Lachlie Rose probably had some smart arsed comment to make to Matty. Convenient how he has left Central Coast out of his playing history after attending the football school at Kariong and winning a16s GF in 2015 then not being considered for the NYL or NPL squads. Left off his wiki page saying his youth career was at Manly - despite playing for Marconi and Central Coast.

He has always had that in his locker. Doesn't always execute 100% but he its happy carrying it out or playing a long straight pass. I'm hoping that game was a turning point for him because that was easily his best game and he looked starting 11 not injury back up.

And there's not anything actually wrong with the sound of a concrete saw. We have had like 40 years of techno.
An LP salsa bell costs about a hundred bucks. You could get a cheaper one in a less reputable brand of the same size.
