Time will tell but his points per game ratio would probably have got us into the 6 with a very depleted squad compared to what MM had to work with. Along with the fragile mental state of the players. Hoping, praying, wishing.........

His PPG average, over the course of the entire season, would have guided us to the lofty heights of 8th this year. Last season it would’ve got us to 9th. Still - at least would’ve been spoonless.

Yeah though usual no prep and not his squad arguments apply, shit, wasn’t even Mulveys intended squad by the end. Never seen such a recruitment debacle in the HAL. He got that so amazingly wrong,

Sounded good in the presser, but then so did that other bloke we had.
At least this bloke has been following the A league & watching our games.
Seems very knowledgeable about us actually.

*I'm editing this after some people have agreed or liked the post.
Just to say I joke about football being more important than life or death.
However I don't really like comments like true believer's.
Maybe a DC10 ?

The Central Coast Mariners can today confirm that Alen Stajcic has begun to finalise his football staff ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.

Continuing with the football department is Nahuel Arrarte as Assistant Coach, who has signed on for the next three seasons under Head Coach Stajcic.

Stajcic spoke highly of Arrarte, and the knowledge he brings to the football department.

“Naz [Nahuel] brings with him a good wealth of experience, and he’s keen, dedicated and really wants to see this club succeed,” Stajcic said. “He has spent the last few years as Technical Director at Marconi, Head Coach at the South Coast Wolves [now known as Wollongong Wolves] and he’s been a leading coach at Westfield Sports High School where a lot of our Socceroos and Matildas have been developed,” Stajcic said.

In a restructure of the Mariners Academy, Nick Montgomery will fulfil the position of Head of Performance Phase which sees him leading the U18’s, U20’s and First Grade Men’s Academy sides for the remainder of the season.

Montgomery is looking forward to the challenge ahead, and the opportunities it brings for young players.

“I spoke with Staj and we felt like it was a good opportunity if I wanted it,” Montgomery said. “To step into the Academy space and start trying to bridge that gap between the NPL and the A-League sides is something that I’m really excited about.

“I’ll still obviously work with the first team next year, and bring them both together to develop young players and give them those first team opportunities which is what we need”.

Another important addition to the Football Department is Luca Tonetti, who has accepted the position of Strength & Conditioning Coach moving forward. Remaining with the club are goalkeeping coach Matt Nash, and physiotherapist David McGinness.

The club is also looking to employ the services of a specialist video analysist on a full-time basis, who will be on board before pre-season training commences.

But is it his own staff?? Only staff he's brought to to club is Arrarte? Strength coach comes from Balzan so was that who staj wanted??
Nash retained is just mindboggling.

Really cannot understand how Matt Nash has been retained, the only keeper he has improved in his time here was Izzo and that took over a season of errors in the first team. Good to see we have at least got our strength and conditioning coach organized, I guess that means Andy Thomson is gone? Good that we are getting a specialist video analyst but why did haven't we had this before? NPL clubs have had this for years and A-League clubs have had it since the start of the competition.

Michelle Heyman on Alan Stajcic:
"He was tough. But for me, that worked. I think it worked for a lot of the girls.

"And I think we became better players – fitness, our tactical, technical skills definitely improved, and we became professional."

I still want to know EXACTLY what happened between him and the Matildas. FA says one thing, Sam Kerr says another.

Most that I've heard via players who know Matildas is that Staj was loved by most of them and is a high quality coach.

The rumour I've heard is that he didn't allow partners to share accommodation on camps/tournaments and that some in the group took it as prejudice (because many it affected were gay) - but that many others knew full well that is his policy regardless of who the players are and sexuality had absolutely nothing to do with it. Being a tender issue it went south quickly.

Is what I've been told anyway.

That’s been the strongest and most consistent rumour I’ve seen also...
In this day and age, it’s literally impossible not too offend people in some way and for the pitchforks to be out.

Yep it’s what I heard too.

But maybe one of us will be able to prise it out of Staj one day
