How many times do you want to be smashed across the snout with a rolled newspaper.?
Sorry but the club has to lead me back to positivity this year. Im a man on the edge.

That depends on how often they keep shitting in the house or humping my sofa.

No, seriously I don’t expect you or any other fan to be or do anything. Certainly not be positive. Not what my post was meaning to communicate,

Just stating my own position. Which is I’m worn down too so I need to start looking forward. And yep, that’s absolutely on the club to inspire and assist with.

When shit gets really hard I’ve learnt I can’t afford to use too much energy on the negatives. Or things typically just get worse. An abundance of shit, like we now have always creates it’s own gravitational pull, so that pretty much anything and everything is in danger of being sucked into the vortex.

It may not be fair, because we weren’t piloting the plane, but at some point each one of us obviously hard core fans will have to make a choice of whether we’re going to walk away or are willing and able to put all the shit aside, suck it up and do the little we can to help pull us out of the nose dive.

Not because it’s fair, not because it’s deserved, just because if we still want a club, we don’t have another better choice.

Anyway, just how I see it. But everyone has to make their own calls and after all the suffering I don’t judge anyone for whatever they decide.

Vent and hold me accountable by all means, that comes with the territory regardless of the situation. But personal attacks and name calling is going too far especially from a recognised business owner in the community. Like you said it is tricky to be totally transparent with player signings and re-signings but all I want to say is that Alen has given every player a clean slate opportunity to earn a contract and make his own mind up.

This is evident by the signing of Adam Pearce who would never have been signed by the former coach, even Adam would agree to that. The new coaching staff wanted as much time as possible to see how all the players up for renewal played, trained and behaved. Then they have to compare what they see and what they can get in the player market for the same value, and also how that works with their intended playing style and roster.

This is not a process that we can discuss publicly for every player until there is a final decision. Also the players need to know the outcomes before we can tell the members. There are a few players at the moment still waiting on decisions by the football department and those decisions have not yet been made, this process is designed to be a thorough as possible. As soon as we can make a public statement we will.

So to clarify there is no lying by Tom in telling you that he has not yet been offered a contact or neither had he been told he was not wanted for next year. But his agent has had every email responded to by myself and he confirmed that he will discuss options with Tom when he is back in Holland - happy to show you when we meet. So to say that I have not responded to an agents email is a simple mistruth, I cannot comment on what Toms agent tells Tom.

We will make player departure and announcements very shortly but until things are contractually fully locked away you can all appreciate that we simply cannot comment until this the time is right - often things have leaked before hand as agents, family members, medical staff, hotel staff, travel agents, other players all get involved during a process as it unfolds. This is not to keep members in the dark, this is to avoid saying something that still might change, I am sure that no one wants the club to announce a player and then have them fail a medical and we have to retract a player announcement.

Please stay tuned for details of upcoming members information night when Anton Tagliaferro and Alen Stajcic will be available to meet and answer your questions in person.

Thank you Shaun. Communication is the key.
Once again I apologise for overstepping the mark.
I would also point out that no one holds you responsible for Tom, or anyone else not being re-signed as we know that is outside of your job remit....(therefore YOU were not called a C).

Hi Shaun,

Nice to see you on the forum again. Always appreciate your posts.

As a gold member along with my family since V2 who has recruited members and brought dozens of newbies to games, also as an established multi business owner on the coast, I would say these storm clouds have been long brewing and my humble suggestion would be that there are a number of strategies around club/fan communication that could go some way to avoiding this kind of pressure cooker explosive environment in future. Which would be nice.

No one can reasonably expect the club to gossip about player targets or releases. But even just simple talk of strategies around how we are looking to rebuild or; go hard in the market place, targeting quality visa players in x positions, best youth in x other positions, hopes and plans for how the football department is looking to develop players like Murray and Rowles etc Just some regular talk/updates of this kind would go a fair way I think.

I personally feel like there is a role here that maybe the OSC and podcast lads could facilitate.

Fans clearly need more to hold onto in the dark times than a new wooden spoon.

For what it’s worth, I haven’t lost faith in your leadership as I believe you have always been very forthright and sincere. And I appreciate from my own experiences that even best laid plans and intentions can go awry.

Look forward to the fan forum, thanks.

I was amused to read of the shit vortex and also the shit nose dive ala Mr Lahey

I want to preface this by saying I think Shaun is a terrific human being and has deserved far more support from Charlesworth than he has received.

However, in the past four years what key performance indicators have we achieved?

Even when we have been in extreme austerity mode it had been reported that we are losing money. We are dismantling our youth academy despite it being touted as our raison d'être less than two years ago. Our Centre of Excellence, previously stated as a key to us achieving financial stability, has been completely unusable for long periods of time even for only our first team to train on.

The TV deal is the only way we are anywhere near financially viable and Foxtel have warned they will not be renewing or at far, far less.

We have the lowest attendances in our history and have completely failed in our endeavours to achieve stadium management let alone ownership. We failed in our bid to re launch our W-League side.

Our on field results have been the worst in A-League history, and three coaches have failed to achieve any change, even one with significant pedigree in our league. We didn't even have a strength and conditioning coach for a long period of time but paid a sprinter who was trailing with us instead.

We are in a worse enough state that our license is being questioned by the FFA. If we continue on this path we will not exist.

Leaders of organisations are responsible for the achievements of their subordinates, and frankly in the last four years we have achieved absolutely nothing and gone backwards. We have burnt through all goodwill towards us within the Australian footballing community. Our culture has only detioriated, so much so that numerous coaches have referenced "Mariner Moments".

We are seemingly no closer to being financially viable and have no plans that are actually realistic to achieve it.

From an organisational point of view what have we achieved in the past four years? At what point does senior management have to be accountable for that?

If you read the whole article Balzan just won their cup (on the 3rd attempt... sounds familiar) and are in Europa

"During his time as president Tagliaferro has created a network of clubs which seen Balzan involved in twinning agreements with Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade and Australian side Central Coast Mariners.

At the Mariners, Tagliaferro has also taken a more influential role as he is now acting as one of the club’s non-executive directors.

The Australia-based businessman said that this network is crucial for the club to help them transform their upcoming players in the future stars of the club.

“Here at Balzan we have one of the three elite nurseries in Malta and it has always been our philosophy to try and develop the potential of our young players,” he said.

“We are still working with some Balzan boys who have been sent to Serbia to further their development and that will continue next year.

“As regards with the Central Coast Mariners connection, the fact that their season is over it could give us the opportunity to bring some players for the Europa League qualifiers and then send some of our players for a stint with the Australian club later on in the summer.

“At the end of the day our main goal is to ensure that Balzan continues to grow in all aspects and hopefully our FA Trophy success will help us to remain on this winning path for years to come.”

Nathan Burns, Antony Golec, Justin Gulley, Michal Kopczyński, Ryan Lowry, and Cillian Sheridan have all left the Phoenix. Personally would take Burns and Golec with Lowry on trial.

Shaun,
The crux of it is ...... You should just troll wombat like the rest of us. He's just a grumpy mouthy C*nt.
Seriously though, we're out of patience as fans. It's been too long between good seasons. There's been too many fan favourites let slip to other clubs. Too many big dick showy moves that detract from the main game such as Bolt and Phelan.
We're desperate for some bloody relief. And in the absence of information, good will and progress, there's going to be plenty of unpleasant things said by us. Especially when we're surviving on rumour, hearsay, innuendo and the occasional smelly fart.

Not sure that i'm Grumpy.

You cant take Golec back unless he couldn't cope with Mulvey.

Is a very good player. Has played in South America too.
Definitely part of that 5% of NPL player category that would slot into the aleague with ease. Even more so that he’s been in a professional environment again.
Centre mid and can play 10

Would have some time to run on his contract in singapore you’d think - only signed there in January. Has already expressed a desire to go back to Uruguay. Not sure we’ll see him on our shores any time soon, but who knows!

Got an email about renewals and the member info night is on the 29th. Shaun said we'd see some movement info soon and I doubt they'd hold a members night without some updates happening beforehand or on the night at latest.

Yeah should be signed after he left South America, he was playing regular first division. Blew me away for no HAL teams to go for him. Shows how broken HAL setup is.

My thoughts exactly. There’s been plenty down the years.
Remember Kurz blowing up in January he couldn’t get an ex La Liga CB from a south Aus NPL team because transfer fees aren’t aloud.
Laughable.

I thought there were no transfer fees allowed between A league clubs.
I know we paid we paid a fee for Jedinak. It could have been called something like compensation though, I'm not sure.
The reason I remember is because the club that he came from called the money laughable. Was it 3 grand or something?
