ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Normally I hate conspiracy theories, but that first goal - the commentators didn't show a single replay that clearly shows whether or not there was an offside.
AND the goal wasn't discussed in the halftime break. Since when do goals not get discussed in the break?
Just makes it look really, really suspicious...
First goal was offside

That's enough of a 50/50 for me not to be blaming the officials for getting that wrong.

Hopefully over the coming weeks our injury issues can be overcome and we can get some of our better players back on the pitch and at the least get some kind of result.

I would like to give my impressions of the game after watching it again on the replay. However, I do not see the need.
If anyone wants to know what I think, see my comments on the last 2 games.

ie Sack them all

If MC hadn't stumped up the money to get rid of our debt years ago, the club would have folded. The way I feel right now, I wish that had happened. Then I could have spent the last few years supporting another team or sport.

That may be so and credit to him for that, but that doesn't make him the person to be in control of this club right now.

George Piggins was the man who played a major part in South Sydney taking on the NRL over their axing and winning their way back into the comp- but he wasn't the man to run the club once they returned to the NRL. From 2002- 2006 they were an unprofessional rabble and never finished higher than second last, lowlights being a 66-0 loss to the Warriors and Piggins threatening to fight Andrew Denton on-air over incorrect comments he made in his autobiography. Then Crowe and PHAC bought the team and the rest is history.

CCM need their Crowe/ PHAC and they need them badly. Thanks Mike for bailing us out- but it's time to sell up and hand the club over to somebody else who recognises that you need a certain level of success on-field in order for the place to be viable.

If Charlesworth didn’t put a twenty million dollar price tag on the club we would have Martin Lee as an owner now.

Which brings us to the age old question - who would be around to do so?

Souths is a nice story but had the profile and famous rich fan/s to attract such a buyer.

Who wants to buy us?

With no parallel to draw from, I am reluctant to make too many damning statements about what I saw but can make the following comments:

A) IMO, there was a general lack of intensity during the session, although I was told this was a light session after two hard days prior.

B) There were several players absent with the national team (Rowles, Shabow & O’Neil), which would have made it difficult to work on tactical stuff, given that two of them would be starting players.

C) The closing part of the session related to tactical preparation for the Nix game but to my eyes it was pretty obvious stuff relating to playing out from the back and defending corners. Tbh, it was pretty basic stuff, which any self-respecting professional shouldn’t need to have drummed into them.

Like I say, I’m not prepared to throw anyone under the bus based on what I saw but will look to attend some further sessions over the coming weeks, in order to form a more rounded opinion.

Thanks OH. Much appreciated. And also appreciate your being careful not to leap to conclusions etc.

Well in recent years Newcastle and Adelaide have changed hands, are you suggesting there’s no interest there at a reasonable price? Everything is for sale at the right price but that’s not the same as a realistic price.
If the licence could be transferred, we would be Canberra Mariners tomorrow. We are stuck between the big centres of Sydney and Newcastle and will never have massive crowds and hence great sponsorship possibilities. We are not an area of great population to keep Fox happy. We only exist because we were the 10th viable bid at the start of the A-League (thanks Lawrie et al). We would not stand a chance now.
The only way we will survive is if MC spends a fortune or is able to find a buyer who is happy to spend a fortune on what is the smallest club in the A-League.
Although I cannot see this happening in the immediate future it is a distinct possibility.
In reality for it to be likely the A-League must become like the MLS, which is probably what MC is hoping.

* Canberra Senators FC

And hey- the ACT's colours are already blue and yellow...

In all seriousness, if the FFA relocated the Mariners somewhere like Canberra that would be a major deterrant to expanding the game outside the capital cities. For a club to have produced the amount of NT players and won the silverware CCM have, despite budget and population size- and still get the axe (or moved) that basically tells any future bids from Wollongong, NQ etc that as soon as they go through a rough trot their heads are on the chopping block.

The coast is the 9th largest urban area or city something like 350k. It's bigger than the WMG council area.
