Foxtel's A-League Coverage

With a new 'Netflix of Sport' streaming service soon to be revealed by Foxtel, I thought it would be timely to create a thread where we can discuss the major broadcasters coverage of the A-League.

If you are not yet a Foxtel subscriber and are considering doing so, you may want to wait a few weeks until early October, or November.

With a rumoured monthly subscription of $20, it would be the cheapest way to watch the A-League legally.

I gave up my Foxtel subscription once they lost EPL rights. I just couldn't justify paying around $70 a month just for A-League.

But for $20 a month, I'm in.

Stay tuned for more details as they come in.

I’m not surprised they are doing this as Sport their Ace in the pack is coming under a lot of pressure from future streaming services. All good for the customer.

Is it a football streaming service or Fox Sports streaming or Foxtel sports equivalent such as Inc bein and ESPN? That's the Q.
I'd pay 20-25 for all the foxtel sport channels but not just for a sport or a small grouping of fox channels.
The what does HD cost. I already stream HD for the cost of a VPN

It's speculation at the moment. Read the article in the OP for more details.
It looks like it's going to be a Fox Sports streaming service for around $20. Just sport, nothing else.
We should know more within the next few weeks.

Would love that, sick to death of being forced to pay for things I don't want. Personally would want it so you could chose the sports you like, I enjoy Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Athletics and Swimming but everything else is just fluff.

25 a month i can stomach. But 54 a month as it currently is? Same for foxtel now or physical box? Makes me stick to streams.
And I'm sick of streams. Sometimes ccm games don't even get one

Exactly.
I am willing to pay, but no more than $25 a month.
Hopefully there will be on demand videos of previous matches.

Telstra customers get free streaming I think of both A League and W League could be wrong.

I went to swap my foxtel box for the internet based one but while the sports pack was only 20-25 the conditions were you had to have another pack like drama etx so it forced the price up to like $50. They know a lot just want the sport so they use it make you get other channels

Free streaming is only viewable on mobile phones via the My Football app.

The rumoured service dubbed as the 'Netflix of Sport' will hopefully be just $20-$30.

Just don’t see Foxtel losing full paying customers for $30 sports streaming. There will be a catch like having to have the IQ4 box to be legible.

There was talk about them having a qantas style approach with iqbox being qantas and streaming being jetstar but agree don’t see them making it cheap especially with the costs associated with live sports

good. $25 is about what I'd be willing to pay ($20 really, but I can accept another $5. I currently use a VPN to access the free stream, but that drops in and out, and it's annoying having no halftime or pre/postgame. So, this might be worth it. Hope the resolution is decent though,

Actual website says it's not a device limitation - just a simultaneous screen limitation. That's fair enough IMO. Up to 4 videos / angles (not really clear) at once with a split picture mode, key moments feature....this actually looks really good. They're not saying what the resolution is, but I'm fortunate that my TV has exceptional upscaling so I'm okay with 720, although 720 hurts if I'm watching on my laptop/PC.

Foxtel might actually deliver something people want. 2 week free trial, give it a go.

In regards to the resolution I think I saw on the site it was HD. It had an * so I assume it's variable res based upon your download rate kind of like what you can get YouTube to do. Hopefully they've planned better than Optus because personally I know more than a few blokes who'll jump ship post haste, inc me.

Somebody else posted that it's up to 720. So, that's a bit weak....but I'm fortunate that my TV has excellent upscaling, even SD looks great. Feedback is good from what I've heard, sometimes is a little buggy but it is a beta

Excellent news, thanks for the heads up gents.

About a month ago, I subscribed to Foxtel Now. I intended to watch it via Chrome web browser. I have a computer attached to my TV which enables this. I can also watch on my computer in the study to keep the girlfriend happy.

I was not impressed by the video quality, especially for football. The resolution is rather good (HD), but the frame rate was not. The video was a bit jerky. Rather irritating for watching football.

I invested in a Chromecast Ultra, much better result. Smoother playback. This requires running the Foxtel Now app on my phone and casting the match to the Chromecast. No big deal.

Until such time as the Kayo smart phone apps are released, I suspect the video playback for Kayo on Chrome will be the same as Foxtel Now.

It's certainly going to be better than a dodgy stream, but that's free and Kayo isn't.

14 day trial and a away game this weekend, what is there to lose?
