Makes me wonder if Popa has told him to stay fit so he can get through pre-season training...
So, with those players gone we should have freed up enough cash to get one or two replacements.

I'd say the bulk of our spend has just walked out the door.
Monty left as the only real money man.
Going to be a f**king interesting off season.

Interesting comments:
“Fabio has been tremendous for our club not only on the pitch but in the community,” Mielekamp said. “Whilst on one hand it is sad to say farewell we can only be positive and excited for him with the opportunity that he has created for himself overseas.

“He has set a high bar for the next player to reach and along the way shown some of the great young talent coming through what can be achieved.

“I know that every Mariners member will watch the journey for Fabio with great interest as he continues his career overseas. In saying farewell, we wish him all the best and my comments to him today was that the door is always open and he is always welcomed at this club.

“Fabio or La Flecha is, and always will be known as a Mariner,” Mielekamp said.

Seems the club would keep him if he wanted back and that it was his choice to go. As usual though - who knows.

As long as the search is more extensive then scouting the NPL.

So my source tipped Paddy and Fab leaving.:(

Interesting to see if Okon is a weak person and is willing to cut of his nose to spite his face, regarding Monty.

If the rumours about Monty are true and so are the ones about Reddy, how the hell does Okon think he can manage a man child like Reddy.

Everyone expects Okon to resign Monty for another year. Blind Freddy can see thats the correct thing to do. But a rumour is around that Okon is insecure and worried about Monty (with his quals). I'm hoping its bullshit but im scared it isn't.
Paddy......yeah we should have kept him but we can get better.
Fab......i'd love to have kept him as a squaddie but if the Moss mublings were true then he was on serious coin.
The Reddy rumour is a joke i'm tipping.............and like you say if Okon can't handle Monty, who is a gentleman, what hope does he have with reddy who is basically a C (sorry to channel Roy Chubby Brown)

Reddy has to be a joke, I don't buy that rumour for a second

All the Monty talk is still conjecture. In particular the stuff about it being because Okon can't handle him. Monty was the perfect diplomat between bad management and players before (excluding Reddy et al.), for several years. If Monty goes I expect it'll because Okon wants a particular style and particular players to play it which Monty doesn't fit.
No one would have believed Ange would let Craig Moore go until he did, and I'm led to believe it was simply because he didn't fit the style Ange was going for, not because he wasn't a good bloke or leader.

Rumours will come and go... I seriously doubt we would get Reddy back... why would he leave PG..

My reading of the Tea Leafs and Taro Cards is Okon has a squad picked out in his head.... we have been told this year we spend the cap meaning we are on level terms with most clubs.

I see Okon wanting a strong spine, One Central Defender, One Def Midfielder more a 6 than an 8 with Rose as the 8, a 10, and a back to goals striker unlike Roy who was more a front to goal striker similar to Jamie Mac at the Roar..

If Rose becomes the 8, then what to do with Monty, a squad player depending on the quality of the 6.

Lets see the final make up of the squad ..

Craig Moore was a cancer at the Roar (so it was said at the time)

It`s one thing for a coach to have a squad picked out in his head, it`s totally a different thing to get that squad on the park.
Okon will struggle to attract the players he wants.
We cannot match the big clubs for spending even if we spend to the cap, some of the big clubs spend triple the cap with marquee deals etc (all supposedly within the rules).
Now with 3 of our top 5 players gone & Monty (our best player) seemly teetering on the brink, what is going to be the lure?
It`s not going to be money, the community club idea has gone out the window, our once strong club spirit left with Hutcho & we have an untested coach with one year`s experience trying (for the first time) to build a team out of the remnants of the 8th placed club.
Forgive my scepticism but next season isn`t going to be much better than this one.
Then we have to re-sign Okon for the rebuild to continue, he`ll want an upgrade we can`t afford, then the cycle starts again.

I hope I`m wrong.
But for mine, I think among the present chaos we "need" Monty to provide the stability.
