Wasn't there some talk earlier in the season that he was contemplating retirement.
Not like at the end of the season but in the next year or two? Dependent on how his contract situating looked.

Agree - I should have included Aussie Monty as well.

Even with his Australian citizenship I don't think Monty would be particularly sort after in the A-League, purely because of his age. Would love to see him back but Paolo has been particularly ruthless throughout his reign...

Considering we didn't even use the foreign spot he opened up in the window just gone, you would think he'd be pretty pissed if we didn't re sign him for atleast another year as an aussie player.

The club definitely owes it to him and he has been fantastic for most of this year. Even if he is 36 by the time next season starts I don't think there are too many better Australian defensive midfielders in the A-League. With that said Paolo might be wanting to be building a side for a premiership in the 2018/19 season and might want to opt for someone with a bit more upside in the long run.

The way Monty has played, you'd be crazy not to back him to be a valuable starting player again next season, and at worst an off the bench swan song the year after. So mentally tough, fit and a great leader. And again, what a great ball to Roy for that SUBLIME finish. He's contributing creatively as well which I never really expected form him.

Paolo may be ruthless, but I'm sure he sees and respects what Monty is doing on the park, (also likely off it) and his ruthlessness will extend to other players challenging for his spot, not just releasing him.

We better sign Roy up pronto. he's the real deal. Best striker we've had. So I'll say it again, give him and his family security with a 3 year deal. Probably the only way to safely outbid the several other clubs who I am sure are going to make offers. Appreciate 2 years is safer and more typical, but there's no way he will be useless at 33 when a 2 year deal would be up. When has he been out for injury? Ever?

Paolo clearly likes him. Roy should stay on the beautiful coast where he's loved instead of going to any of the other more fickle mobs.

Don't forget, Monty gave Reddy that send off a couple of weeks ago. As far as I'm concerned, that one act alone should mean that he can write his own cheque and stay as long as he likes.

Monty has shown us all his value. I wrote him off but he keeps bringing it.

Originally thought his style wouldn't suit Paulo but has been our most consistent player.

A real leader and our boys really need that.

Monty is a workhorse - He's been doing brilliantly, covers every blade of grass on the pitch and has one of the highest assists for the team this season. Re-sign for 1 year deal, then hope he's keen to be a fitness coach.

I like the quotes like this:

Sounds like Royo would genuinely like to stay, so hopefully it'll "just" come down to who throws what money at him and we ought to be able to compete financially with any of the clubs that are mentioned in that article, so there's some promise.

They seem to be pretty patient about it though... There was a comment in another article - I think one of the ones from JP - that they understand the situation that the club is in, that the conversation has started and that they're pretty happy with how that conversation is going at this point.
The agent wouldn't be worth his 15% if he didn't try to add a bit of salary-pressure by pointing out that others are interested as well.

“I’m fully aware of interest from other teams, both foreign and domestic, and we’ll pursue those avenues if we can’t reach agreement with Central Coast.

Dominguez is doing his job, but the club is left in no doubt that they can't go too slowly.

FFA needs to wrap up the FTA deal, pronto.

Real test here to see if Okon can keep the majority of players he rates, somehow I think Izzo is gone. Hope I'm wrong. It would hurt to see Roy in someone else's colours, had the chance to meet him last year and he is a top bloke and my young bloke rates him as his favourite after that encounter.
