On podcast host asked Brice about a rumour about a AM signing, which he said he is not the person to ask and didn't know. The others where what are you talking about and then he went quite saying "nothing" so either heard a rumour and then back tracked when no hint from Brice.

He then refrased the question to have you had anyone new at training and got a very clear no.

Let's hope there is some merit to it but maybe not judged by the answers and back tracking.

Brice also said
Ashcroft should be back to training at the end of the week and is a head of Posco who he wouldn't give a time on but did say couple of weeks.

Said Galloway is a great bloke and close to Connar but also gets on well with Storm and Izzo.

Said Jake has had his surgery and they used a cadavers ACL ligament. Very interesting. Said with the larse surgery used by Malcheski in AFL the artificial tendon is quite strong and causes problems around it which basically means a knee replacement after your career is over.
Jake is back on the bike but is definitely gone for the whole season.

That's good to hear. They've been doing surgery with meniscus and ligaments pulled from cadavers for over twenty years OS (with varying success). Unfortunately Oz has been way behind in this regard - due to irradiation making tissue un-useable and old brigade of surgeons incredibly resistant to change. f**kers.

Thoughts on Jon McKain, personally I'd love to see him in our back line...
Heard him described as a former Socceroo, so experience there. Seen him play a couple of times with AU, but he didn't stand out to me. Reckon he's probably been out of the top flight too long to give us anything we don't already have.

The quote included something along the lines of 'having a laser like left foot'. I don't know of any Aussies that currently fit that criteria. My guess is that MC may be exploring the Malouda option after the ISL season with the Delhi Dynamos connection. He isn't exactly setting the ISL alight though

Well, we can see that Okon is looking to shape his squad as soon as possible.

On that basis I have us at:

expiring 2017:
Adelson
Appiah-Kubi
Bingham
Buhagiar
Faty
Ferreira
Fletcher
Galloway
Izzo
McDonald
Montgomery
Necevski
Neill
O’Donovan
Poscoliero
Roux
Tavares

2018:
Ascroft
Heward-Belle
McGing
Pain
Powell
Rose

2019:
Berry

Powell is 25, but other than that, all our long-term contracted players are 22 or younger.

Of the players expiring this year, we've not yet seen Bingham, Fletcher or McDonald.

Barring surprises, I'd be fairly surprised if we extended any of them, and of the players we have seen I'd be surprised if we extended Adelson (unless on a NYL full-time gig - he's only 20!), Appiah-Kubi, Faty, Ferreira (unless he starts really producing!), Necevski or Tavares.

Watch for players on this list suddenly discovering opportunities in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore in January.

I think Tavares suffers because he and Faty seem to be a package deal. Their retention or not will be determined by the weaker player's performance. Faty is too up and down.

I think Montgomery, Neill, O’Donovan, Poscoliero and Roux are all going to be effectively on-notice too.

I would guess that they'd be re-signed, but if they have an extended poor run of form or injury...

Yes - I don't think Okon is going to let the grass grow under his feet.

I'd re-sign Adelson purely on a few minutes against Nix at Knox. They is little downside on signing him and potentially a huge upside. I would have him starting him before Storm if he wasn't injured..

Dibo's list has 17 players off contract.

You can only imagine a handful being kept so its a real challenge for Okon to ring the changes.

The three levels of coaching as I see it are,
1] Technically good enough to develop game plans and structures.
2] Man management i.e. keeping the shed on side and behind you.
3] When changes are made to the squad they fit and improve the squad.

The last point will be a big test, as most coaches with the new media deal will be changing their squads.

Good timing.

Sees Caceras falling back to bench at city and sees they buy the best talent so no guaranteed playing time.

Paul comes in and fixes things here and has worked with him before and knows he will play here.

If Taveras is a one year thing.

Next year could see Rose and Berry being this years Tav and Monty.

Adelson definitely a one year deal, Brice was raving about him (not that he picks the team)
Bingham a chance as well as was very good at Knox and there was an article from club saying he is training very well and pushed himself on to the bench the other week. He is Roy's back up. Obviously only if the price is right but won't have many other options in the A League

I think O'Donovan Poscilero and Roux are locked in. Not sure about Monty and Neill. If monty has citizenship then maybe. Especially if we don't have Tavares again which may be the case cause i can't see Faty getting a deal

F*** 'im... If we're out looking to build a whole new team may as well make sure the ones we bring in don't come with bitter history.
He doesn't have history with Paolo. I'd take him back in a heartbeat without Tavares or Monty here. Still can't see it happening though. Imagine Berry Rose and Caceres fighting for our midfield spotso_Oo_Oo_O

I think we will go for someone very much younger than a then 25 year old Caceres and I have a hunch (only that) that it will happen sooner rather than later.
