Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Thought it was a pretty decent starting side. 6 players who will probably be in our first 11 (Reddy/Roux/Rosey/Ando/Boz/Caceres) 3 players who will be close (Dukey/Fitzy/Hutch) and 2 that need game time to show what they can do (Simmy/Cernak). Thought it was a pretty balanced line up to both get the job done and to get what we need pre season wise. The whole squad needs to be ready come round 1 so all players need some game time.

We had a short pre-season and need to give the team time to gel and build some understanding. I hope Moss knows what he is doing but am scared we are going to be horribly underdone come the start of the season.

I would have thought it more sensible to give the squad players 30-40 minutes in the second half once the job is done.

Scores one and sets up another, what more do you need, to come around and mow your lawn and wash your car?

Pretty sure Vernes or Mane would have had the same success if not more.
I'm pleased Sim had a good game, he is a good lad.

I think we can all agree Monty is a better player than Hutch, but you'd be a fool to not see the "intangible" qualities il capitano brings to the squad.

Sorry, no dice. I don't see Monty as a better player, I see them as two very handy players with different strengths.

We had a short pre season because we regularly have longer seasons than most A League clubs :). This is our most stable squad in years. Reddy, Roux, Morton, Anderson, Bosnar, Griffiths, Josh Rose, Neill, Montgomery, Hutchinson, Caceres, Cernak, Sim, Kim, Trifiro, Slater, Fitzgerald, Duke and Simon all were with us last year. That’s 19 players who should not need extra time to gell. Kalik and Liam Rose trained with us at the end of last season. I doubt that Nash, who is part of Crawley’s goalkeeping school, will need much time to bed in. In fact of the 24 players listed on the club website only three had not trained with us prior to this off season. Apart from Nash, only Vernes and Mane need time. We need probably two more players, a CB and a replacement for McGlinchey – who, irrespective of when we started pre season, would need time to gell anyway.
I don’t understand why you think Phil Moss does not know what he is doing; the Mariners finished third, on goal difference, and reached the major semi after he was given the mother of all hospital passes by Graham Arnold. I think pre season paranoia is kicking in ;)

Dunno about paranoia, but I see on various other forums we are oft listed second last in the finishing stakes. This pleases me no end.

Meh, business as usual... I can't remember a single season where we've been tipped at the top of the comp by the majority. Every year it's the same thing...
"I know they did well last season, but they sold all their players and all the other teams have recruited out-of-sight", "They play a piss-boring game and always park the bus, no way they'll survive this season", "I know you should never underestimate CCM, but this season, there's no way they'll even reach the finals" or my personal favorite and the most often seen one "They have sold all of their best players and there's just nothing left in the pipeline - and they haven't recruited that well at all, bottom 2 finish this season".
In spite of all of that, I don't think I need to remind anyone on here of how well we've been doing. In stead of letting it frustrate you Mini, soak in it, enjoy the knowledge that they'll be wrong and, if you're really vindictive, screendump the worst of them and post it to the relevant forums at the end of the seasons, along with a picture of Hutch holding yet another trophy high ;)

I *know* that we'll do well this season. But, my tip for a flyer this season is MV :afro:

Meh... MV will collapse completely, the expectations are so high they'll land somewhere middling again (mind you, I won't define success, that way I can always find a reason to claim that they failed, at the end of the season ;) )

OK, FFA decision, I guess. But lighting not up to whose standard? Not Foxtel, surely, as it wasn't telecast. Were there *any* highlights broadcast on Foxtel, goals maybe, as promised?

QE2 at Nathan is approx 10 kms. from Goodwin Park. By contrast, Terrigal is 12.5kms. from CCS.

Lighting still has to be of a sufficient standard for games, regardless of Foxtel coverage.

Roy,
I don't think he doesn't know what he is doing. I know there is method in the madness. Some people on here have already posted some very plausible reasons for selections thus far.
We did ok last year. It certainly wasn't pretty but Mossy was thrown in the deep end and swam solidly.
I guess my preseason nerves are jangling.

I think Hutch is starting to lose a lot of confidence. His passes have been very very bad lately and has been the primary cause of a lot of turn overs.

Monty is definitely a better holding mid fielder and enforcer.

NB: It looks like some rounds were played out of strict date order. It must be a Queensland thing. ;)

So, I dunno, I guess they played in the dark in the NPL and the FFA is different?

Monty is definately the better player IMO and Caceres has also come through, hopefully this will be a great year for the young gun. Hutch has and continues to be an integral part of the squad and his leadership is second to none. It will be interesting to see how this season pans out.....Monty and Caceres have to be favourites for that defensive mid role but Hutch is still captain.
