R3 - Mariners vs Adelaide (Pink Round)

After that pretty ordinary performance in Melbourne yesterday, I'm looking forward to a full 90 from WeeMac.

As much as it pains me to say it, it might also be time to give Reddy a go in goals.

Thoughts?

Pasfield = awesome shot stopper, nervous anywhere else

Reddy = ??

Key to breaking Adelaide is defending like rocks for 60 then punishing hard as they tire from their high tempo attacking game. Fresh Simon and Duke I think would help... Is Mcbreen back?

I think we can expose Adelaide. They look tough, but at Fortress Bluetongue and with Wee Mac back, they don't stand a chance.

Wee-Mac is a must. As creative as Flores is we just seem to stagnate in midfield without Wee-Mac and I think that led us to be a lot deeper than we usually are. As a result there have been more than the usual shots on target against us. I think when he is unavailable that Caceres needs to replace him.

As far as Pasfield is concerned I would stand by him. He made some stunning saves and the only thing that he did wrong was for the first goal. Having viewed it a few times I am convinced that he was unsighted until Williams (in an offside position) wheeled away. This to my mind mitigates his culpability. When you consider the number of saves he has had to make and the strengthening of the midfield above I believe he should stay.

I'm looking forward to a few weeks time when we will have a front four of

Duke----Flores---Wee-mac

---------Danny------------

with Matty, Nick and Cacares on the bench.

Wtf reddy in goals are u on crack or something

Shot-stopping only gets you so far as a goal-keeper, and you have to admit that in other areas Pasfield has come up short.

I'll reiterate what I said last week, and sadly I think it's coming to pass:

Very impressed with Pasfield's shot-stopping; not so with his distribution and playing out of the box. I think he needs to watch a few clips of what happened to Coe when he did that in February to be reminded of what can happen.

Don't agree. I thought Pasfield had a solid game & his distribution was good. Pasfield would have to make a number of excruciating errors across multiple games to lose his spot & he just isn't doing that.

Seip, Roux and Pasfield are obviously still finding themselves. Though that first goal was ridiculous, I just don't want Reddy in goals.

Matty made a host of embarassing spills when he came in.. hopefully Crawley is as good with older keepers as he was with Danny and Matty

yeah I'd be worried about this game after the heart game IF we hadn't played so well against wsw.
could go either way but there's plenty of reason for optimism

JP going alright - Needs 5 or 6 games to feel confident just like the rest of the backs.

Look exposed pace wise at the back but otherwise not to bad considering the changes. Just have to stop the silly turnovers & errors that get you exposed at the back. Expect a few more 2-2 draws IMO
