Watching that this morning and i can see why maradona is getting the sack
He replaced Aguero with Martin Palermo, a 35 year old who hasn't played for Argentina since 2000 and he brought on some 36 year old defender from Estudiantes with 10 minutes to go and they needed a goal.
That's just crazy

they better, need some sexy football in the world cup

hardly playing sexy football under maradonna but it would be a shame for messi to miss out

we could have a world cup without messi, ronaldo and henry

Seriously, who didn't see it coming.

It was a populist decision and not a football one. They passed up people like Diego Simeone, who's far more qualified, to do appoint someone on the back of his name and greatness as a player. Even Ossie Ardiles would have been a better choice.

To screw up with one of the most talented talent pool they've ever had is abominable.

Question is do they have the balls to give him the punt ?

Even if they scrape through they should punt him.

man- he makes weird decisions...and he refues to call up higuain (no way near their beiggest problem, but it is one to add to the list).
He makes a better effort of putting down Pele then he does in running the team :p

0.31 - MARADONA BELLY SLIDE!!!  ;D

One of the jammiest f*cking goals and most utterly ridiculous games you will ever see in the context of the qualifying campaign..... and yes, the rain really was as bad as it looks.

Wednesday now looks like this::

4 - Argentina    17    7    4    6    22    20    2    25
5 - Uruguay    17    6    6    5    28    19    9    24
6 - Ecuador    17    6    5    6    22    25    -3    23

Uruguay at home to Argentina, Ecuador away to Chile.  Faaaaaaaaaaaaaark.

Yep they went through with their win on the weekend,

It would be funny if argentina didnt make the finals, it would really show how much of mistake it was to give maradona the job in the first place if they dont qualify

half of me hopes they will miss out for that reason...
but half of me says you cant have a world cup without a side like Argentina...
although tbh- if this is how they will play, then maybe it is best they dont qualify!

If they can't qualify by finishing in the top 5 of a 10 team league then they don't deserve to be there regardless of what talent is in their side.

Only just scraped a win at the weekend too.

If by "only just scraped a win" you mean "scored one of the jammiest goals EVER in the 93rd minute and subsequently nearly conceded from the very next kickoff", then yes.  :p

How big a game is Argentina v U R Gay?

Can you imagine the atmosphere in in Montevideo's Centenario stadium? I hope U R Gay make it and Australia get them in the group stages - magic.

Wednesday night's game  is effectively a play-off for the fourth and final automatic qualification spot in South America. The winners will qualify or, if it is a draw, Argentina will qualify (unless Ecuador win by at least five clear goals away to already-qualified Chile).
