Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Interesting comment from Andy Harper last nite during the Melb derby when talkng about how good it was to see Alex Wilkindon back in the A-League.

AH: "Before we move on from Alex Wilkinson as a topic, Simon, what about the owner of the Mariners signing a blank cheque to get Alex Wilkinson back at his spiritual home ?"

Simon Hill:" Fair call"

AH: "That would of been an amazing tonic for the Central Coast, as it is it's Melb.City who profit"

Gobsmacked Wilko didnt sign with us when he could've got whatever dollar$ he wanted.

So the 'greed' factor is null & void.

Not wanting a wooden spoon? Or wanting to help us avoid one? :(

Melb.City riding high, hopes to win a golden-seat instead?

Then possible ACL .......hoping for another deal in Asia ???

Either way is going to be even harder to watch him at MCity ....... now knowing this.

:tophat: Absolutely tip my hat to Mike Charlesworth, signing a blank cheque to try and get him.

So glad that he's decided to 'drink the cool-aid' we've been begging him to taste.

I think you'd find he signed at City to give him as much football before the WC qualifiers in June, our season will finish 6 weeks before city so its a wise move. Walk has only signed for 6 months so next season we should push for him.

There are far better players than Wilko around if MC has suddenly unleashed his wallet!

I heard this as "imagine if Charlesworth had a blank cheque to sign Wilkinson" and thought it was pure speculation by the commentators?

I figured that Wilko would be making the best decision for his socceroos spot. Also an open check seems very unlikely. It's a deal until next season when he may very well come back to us. As much as it pains me to say it for the money he'd want I suspect we could get the equivalent or better cheaper...

Why would Wilko put himself in a position where he could struggle at his age and seniority. One bad season with us and it could be all over for an older player. It could certainly affect his Socceroo chances. My only thought was that he would want to help his first team but that can come later.

Lucky for me I hadn't yet deleted the game of my Foxtel IQ.

Replayed the very moment this was mentioned, several times.

NO imagine.
NO if only.
NO what if.

IF
Andy Harper was alluding that a blank cheque for Wilko didn't actually exist but was only 'wet-dreaming' the thought of imagine if ???, then it's an extremely poorly constructed piece of commentary by a bloke who normally is pedantic about the use of the english language.

Just say IMAGINE IF ! ffs.

Perhaps those (not I) on Twitter or FB can ask the idiot what he was actually inferring.

hehe, partly done in amusement as a jab at the forum of old - this place used to be quite pedantic for literary correctness

Wow - ok. Different context to that entirely.

Hope it doesn't mean we couldn't attract him with any amount of cash. Very worrying if so...
