Yeah love this kid!!! Just how good is he?
Certainly impressed me in the trials I saw.
Supposed o be a cracking goal - but i love the paragraph below about the dribble!!

I can't help but want to see him and Perez on at the same time.
I'd be happy with a 433 come 4231 to see it.

EXCLUSIVE: Playmaker Mustafa Amini starred as the Young Socceroos stormed into next year’s U20 World Cup defeating UAE 4-2 in last night’s AFC U19 quarter-finals in China.

Despite going down to ten men late in the game and after UAE fought back to 2-2 at the end of regulation time to force the match into extra time, goals from Adelaide’s Mathew Leckie and Sunderland’s Matthew Fletcher sealed the win, even after Dylan McGowan's dismissal for a second yellow.

The win books Australia's place in the semi-finals of the U19 Asian Cup with the title of Asian Champions now within reach for this hugely talented side.

However, Australia may have to do it without talented attacker Tommy Oar who is under pressure from his Dutch club to return.

Alistair Edwards, assistant coach to Jan Versleijen, was full of praise for Amini and the side as he offered us his thoughts on this exciting night.

“It was one of the most exciting games I have been involved in, it had everything, great goals, great players, it ebbed and flowed, we were on top in stages but there were spells when UAE played some brilliant football, particularly in tight areas around the box,” he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

“Mustifa Amini played his best game for Australia tonight, scored an absolutely stunning goal and then dug deep in injury time to produce a 40 metre dribbling exhibition to set up the through pass to Tommy Oar who then played an inch perfect cross to the on-rushing Fletcher.

“Kerem Bulut did an amazing amount of work upfront and was a constant menace for their central defenders. We put Fletcher on as the game needed a player who could hold the ball up and bring others into the game … Fletcher is class at that.

“We showed tremendous character to come back from the disappointment of conceding a late goal to absolutely dominate extra time. This stage of the game was the best passage of controlled football we had showed in the whole tournament.

"UAE just could not get near the ball and ended up relying on quick balls forward whenever they managed to get possession.

“Kantarovski has been our best and most consistent player in the four games so far, his organizational skills and ability to win the ball and then control the play in midfield has been a joy to watch.

“The set piece delivery and all round play from left back Marc Warren has been tremendous, his form has kept another quality left back Jason Davidson on the bench. It’s great to have such competition for places in the starting XI.

“We now will try and get Tommy Oar to stay for the whole tournament as his club in Holland has at this stage only agreed to let him play up until the quarter finals.

“He is desperate to stay so there will be some late night phone calls."

Edwards added: “Mathew Leckie has continued his A League form into this tournament/

"Both he and Tommy are such important players for us as they are the X factor players, they can ghost past players with ease. Most teams here are trying desperately to double play them but they are still finding their way past them to deliver quality crosses.

“We have had a focus of winning this tournament so although everyone was ecstatic to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, we have two games to go to accomplish what our ultimate goal is, that being champions of Asia

“The call before the game amongst the boys was ‘three games to go’ and this is the type of approach and mentality we have amongst this group.

“There is such depth in this squad, in every game so far the ‘non starting players’ have come on and been excellent, they have added that little bit extra and often changed the game.”

The Qantas Young Socceroos have qualified for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup after defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 4-2 in a thrilling quarter final at the AFC U-19 Championship tonight in Zibo, China. Kerem Bulut opened the scoring for the Qantas Socceroos, following a Marc Warren corner, in the 6th minute of the match before Ahmed Khalil equalised for the UAE from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute. Mustafa Amini gave the Qantas Young Socceroos the lead again three minutes into the second half with a fantastic right footed-volley from the edge of the box that dipped in just under the crossbar. But Ahmed Khalil again equalised for the UAE with six minutes to go in regulation time to force the match into extra time.

Two minutes into the first period of extra time Mathew Leckie put the Qantas Young Socceroos ahead for the third time with a tap in at the far post from a Matthew Fletcher cross. Fletcher then sealed the result twelve minutes later when he side-footed in a volley from close range after finding himself unmarked in the six yard box on the end of a cross from Tommy Oar on the left. The Qantas Young Socceroos defended their two goal lead during the second period of extra time controlling possession and slowing down the play as both teams began to feel the effects of fatigue. The UAE had a faint glimmer of hope late in the game after Dylan McGowan was sent off for his second bookable offence in the 115th minute after committing a foul on the edge of his own box. But from the resulting free kick, Qantas Young Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Birighitti made an important save to his near post.

After the match Qantas Young Socceroos Head Coach Jan Versleijen was ecstatic with his team's hard earned win and the achievement of their goal of making the semi finals of the tournament. "It was a tremendous performance by all the players this evening. "Every time the UAE challenged us we were able to then step up to the challenge. "It was definitely a hard fought win and the players should be very satisfied by the result tonight as well as qualifying for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia next July. "Yes, we achieved our goal of qualifying for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, but we are not satisfied. We play Saudi Arabia in the semi finals on Thursday and want to win this game to progress to the final on Sunday.

"We will be missing Mathew Leckie, Dylan McGowan and Ben Kantarovski due to suspensions for Thursday's match, but this will give other players an opportunity and again allow us to see what depth this squad has to offer. "For the moment the players should be very proud of their performance as we look forward to the semi finals," concluded Versleijen In the other quarter finals the Korea Republic came back from two goals down to run out 3-2 victors over Japan, DPR Korea defeated China PR 2-0 and Saudi Arabia accounted for Uzbekistan 2-1.

The Qantas Young Socceroos will now meet Saudi Arabia and DPR Korea will face the Korea Republic in the semi-finals of the AFC U-19 Championship which will be held on Thursday 14 October, with the Final to be played on Sunday 17 October. The FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2011 will be played from the 29 July - 20 August.

our future looks bright, yes the saudis had their moments of dominance but the boys are impressive imo... after the doom and gloom of our "golden generation" retiring with no youngsters coming through i think we are now starting to see some quality prospects coming through - really would like to see the boys claim the title - first male asian title to go with the matildas asian cup win would be a great thing for australian football.

shit end to the half. Antonis looks well off and Kantarovski is not playing his best. We looked farken sloppy for 25 mins of that half. They should get an absolute blast and come out firing.

Oar and Leckie look a class above and I rate Warren at LB too.

I'm loving the close control of Amini.

Our defence is looking sloppy.

Oar having a good one.

Bulut is certainly a poacher
