ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Even funnier was that Lucas got carded for hacking his Liverpool team mate (both just happen to play a fairly simliar position, to add to the irony)

The third goal from the Nigeria-Belgium game was out of this world; he hit it so hard, it's still going!! They might as well replace the whole net, as the hole in the one they had must be enormous. Fantastic technical skill and brute power, in the Mario Kempes or Julian Dicks class (had to get a West Ham reference in there for the Bear).

People, is Olympic football a waste of time? Is the World Cup, Euro, CONCACAF, African Cup and Asian Cup enough? FIFA don't recognise it, for goodness sake!!!

I reckon it has to be fair dinkum or not at all. Does Under 23's work (IMHO, no)? What is the best solution? How can it be that Great Britain do not have a side (the Taffees, Jocks and wannabe-but-not-quite Paddies won't play with the To-and-Froms)?

I'll give my opinion, as I am not a fence-sitter; make it all-age, make it COUNT toward the World Cup, make part of the bid the provision of many world-class grounds (next Olympics, Wembley, the Theatre of Dreams, the Emirates, the Stadium of Light, St James' Park, New Anfield, Villa Park, Eastlands, Hampden Park, Parkhead, Ibrox, Millenium Stadium, no problems there). And it has to be FIFA-approved!!

Over to you, my friends.

Waste of time.As you said FIFA don't recognise it and it causes numerous club vs country battles. There is so much football being played these days that the top players hardly get a break.
As for a GB side..................they are trying to enter one in London 2012.........at least the English are.....message to them...........F**K OFF WE DON'T WANT TO PLAY WITH YOU !!!!! :soapbox:

If a GB team competes in London 2012, it will make the Olympic Football even more of a joke.

As a aside reading todays Daily Terror, saying Lowy still supports Arnold.
FFS does the admin in this country have any balls.

FIFA do recognise it as the U/23 world championships. You have the U/17s and U/20s World Championships and then the Olympics as the final age-grouped world championships. All these tournaments have 16 finalists and the qualification is essentially the same for each.

The first two are biennial, the latter is quadrennial. You could always get clever and hold a football tournament at the winter games too (would solve the problem of players like Wilko or Jedi, who would have been perfect for an Olympic team two years ago but too young four years ago and just too old now), to match it up with the other age-group tournies, but I dont see that happening.

Its a great tournament generally won by teams taking it very seriously. The last few winners - Spain, Nigeria, Cameroon, Argentina and Argentina again have had some tremendous players and the standard has been fantastic.

You couldnt make it an open tournament for two complementary reasons it would take the shine off the real world cup, and it would also overshadow the rest of the Olympics.
