Roman Abramovich, the Russian oligarch, may have to sell Chelsea FC, his private UK football club, Kronen Zeitung reported. An unsourced report in the Austrian daily pointed out that a Russian paper claimed that the private wealth of Abramovich had slumped from EUR 16.7bn to EUR 2.3bn within a few weeks, and suggested that Abramovich might be forced to sell either Chelsea FC or his large yacht, "Peolrus". The article noted that Abramovich bought Chelsea FC for an estimated EUR 210m in July 2003, and has since invested roughly EUR 500m. The report claimed that Abramovich can hardly afford the London-based football club now.
