AUSSIE KEEPER DEPARTS FOREST

Australian goalkeeper Chris Marques has left Championship side Nottingham Forest and is on the hunt for a new club.
Marques was let go by Forest after an injury-plagued year at the club. The 19-year old had joined the Reds Under-21 squad from Stoke City in July 2016.
Marques, currently on holiday in Sydney, was troubled by a hip flexor problem and a lower back injury in the second half of the season.
“I had my fair few shares of ups and downs as every player goes through, the first half of the season I did well and in the secnd half of the season I was pretty much injured for that whole period and basically spent most of that time rehabilitating my injury,” he told FourFourTwo.
“I haven’t been able to play as many games as I was hoping too but hopefully that will change next season if I stay fit and healthy. No one likes being let go but at the end of day but that's football I guess and I'll be looking to be moving on to bigger and better things.”
Marques signed for Stoke as a 16-year old in 2014 and spent time in a Young Socceroos training camp last year. He said he is not ready to give up on his overseas dream just yet.
“I’ll be looking to come back to Europe and find a club, whether it’s in the UK or another part of the continent,” he said.
“My aim is to play alot more games then I did this season and gain a long-term contract. My development as a player, I would say, has stalled based on injuries and the goalkeeper training I felt wasn’t as good as I would’ve hope to have been in my age group, but I trained regularly with the first-team.
“I felt I was very consistent in those sessions and enjoyed the different goalkeeping sessions with them. Il’l be back in the UK roughly for when pre-season starts so I’ll be ready to go on trials where able to.”
Marques said he is back to full fitness now and ready to go.
“My injuries are all healed now and I've been doing some intensive training since being back in Australia and starting to feel fitter than ever,” the six foot three-inch shot-stopper said.
“I’m ready for whatever opportunities I have ahead of me.”

Young and was injured. People get injured. I believe Matty had the same hip flexor injury (i think) at one stage not long after leaving us.
Look at it this way, he's been contracted for a while os so he must have something. Plus he's 6'3'. I'm excited to see how he goes if its true.
One looking to get back to what he was and another looking to launch his career ala Matty Ryan. Seems a good mix to me.

Maybe that is why he was considered the Scums best player.
Looks like a quality pick up.
