ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mods, feel free to delete this if you thinks it's inappropriate...not spam really...

So, as many of you might know, I work for Starlight Foundation. The project I work on is a social network site called Livewire.

Blurb of what we're about:

About Us

Its estimated there are over 450,000 children and young people aged 10-21 years old coping with the impact of living with a serious illness, a chronic condition or a disability in Australia1.

Being a teen is tough. Its a tricky enough for a teen figuring out their identity and independence whilst striving for social acceptance. Then add being seriously ill or disabled and life becomes a real challenge. Frequently this means they cannot attend school, participate in sport or the usual social activities most teenagers take for granted.  Many will spend significant periods of time as a result of their condition in hospital or at home.

Illness and disability can profoundly affect the everyday lives of kids, teens and young people by increasing their risk of social isolation, disconnection, lower peer acceptance and lower emotional wellbeing.  Maintaining relationships with family, friends and other young people with a shared experience is essential.  Connecting this group of children and young people via an online community is a solution.

That is why Starlight launched the groundbreaking online community Livewire.

What is Livewire?

Livewire is a safe and fun online community for young people (aged over 10 and under 21 years) living with a serious illness, chronic condition or disability.

Livewire is a supportive place for them to hang out, connect, share experiences, creatively express themselves and realise that they are not alone in their situation.

As we rely soley on minimal government funding, donations and the niceness of companies who help us out with the technical side...we're holding a fundraiser for supporters of Livewire to raise some more funds so we can do more to help these kids, and make this experience for them even better!

We are holding a LivewireLive! Night at the Basement in Sydney. We've got some fantastic Sydney based acts performing, and $50 gets you entry, a meal and a drink voucher (and the rest is a donation to Livewire!)

Check out the link below to read more or buy tickets. I've attached a bit of a blurb about some of the artists performing.

Even if you don't think you could make it, let anyone you know in Sydney who loves a bit of fantastic live music know.

Spread the Livewire Love!

Poko xx
