would much prefer to replicate the actions of hundreds of leagues rather then copy the actions of a sport played purely by australia, a sport played by 3 countries, and union a sport played by 10 maybe

Actually not a bad idea, Marinermick, in the absence of a proper FA Cup style knockout through all grades.

Brilliant idea.  Structure the draw so the top teams of the comp proper get the better runs and the lower sides have to wade through hell. It'd sure help lessen "end-of-season-my-team-can't-make-it" fade off in crowd numbers at clubs (which does happen).

It gives those who want a "finals" series what they want, it gives the cup lovers what they want. It gives TV what it wants and would help with the rivers of gold.

I have to say I am not a fan on the finals series but the biggest issue for the A-League is that there is no relegation and promotion from a lower division.  Without that the season could become pretty boring with a number of teams with nothing to play for over the last few games but the finals keeps us on edge.

I do think 6 teams will reward very poot teams though it should be kept to 4 but any chance to generate more revenue seems to be taken these days - just look at the Champions League, back in my day only the champions from each country played in it.

I am a fan of a 5 team final series for a 10 team comp. With 12 teams make it 6. Australian fans respond to the Finals and GF and without a promtion and relegation the FFA will have finals.
I agree with the league system but our league is not long enough yet. I woul rather see next season be 36 games of home and away with no finals but we know that wont happen.
