ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sie bekommen, was sie verdienen, und so sollte es auch sein, Herr Präsident Blatter.

EDIT: or in biblical terms: As ye shall sow, so shall ye reap, Mr. President Blatter.

So a new President will be elected at an extraordinary congress sometime in the near future.
Is there enough will for reform among the 209 members who will choose the new Prez or will another puppet/muppet get the nod?
A majority voted to re elect Blatter. Reform won't come easy.

On the surface of it you can't fault Blatter et al's guile in supporting by way of funding all those minnows of the football world in order to get their votes. A gerrymander for sure. But where were those grants used? Maybe not for the specified purposes at all the times. The FBI has achieved part of it's aims, Blatter will be gone, and now it will be extremely interesting to see if they can prove any alleged corruption by Blatter.

The UN works the same way, as does the IOC, IAAF...

Population-based measures are one thing, but that would mean that between China and India you would suddenly have ~1/3 of all votes tied up in two countries who between them have qualified for the World Cup twice,* and you're relying on the statistical rigour of census data.

Another alternative is to operate the way the World Bank (or private companies) work, and that is to operate on the basis of cash contributed. That would see Qatar (population of ~290k and GDP larger than NZ) likely wielding even more power than at present.

*In India's case they didn't play in their one qualification in 1950, apparently in part because they weren't allowed to play barefoot.

Blatter showered with money at election announcement:

FIFA president Sepp Blatter was showered with cash by a British comedian at the first press conference since he announced he would stand down as the head of football's world governing body amid corruption allegations.

Watch Video:

Simon Brodkin, who is best known for his character Lee Nelson, walked to the front of the press conference room at FIFA's headquarters in Zurich, and handed Blatter a large stack of fake US dollar bills, stating: "This is for North Korea 2026, thank you very much."

One of Brodkin's other alteregos, Jason Bent, also tweeted the prank.

Outgoing president Blatter laid down his mandate back in June, just four days after he controversially won a fifth consecutive term by beating Prince Ali bin Hussein in an election in late May.

Blatter's decision to step down came in the wake of a corruption probe in which 14 people, including nine FIFA officials, were indicted on charges of racketeering conspiracy and corruption two days before that election.

UEFA president Michel Platini is widely tipped as the front runner to succeed Blatter.

Never change, Gary Lineker.

The popular pundit and former England international—who will forever have a special connection with faeces (WARNING: link contains NSFW material) —poked fun at his history by destroying disgraced FIFA President Sepp Blatter on Twitter.
