@adz any chance of an unofficial discord server for the forum? or are you all too boomer to figure out how to use it

I moved this to a new thread. Discord has been brought up before so it would be good to get people's thoughts.

I'll say straight up that I don't like discord. It's really spammy and the people that run it do dodgy things with your data. There are also reasons not to be locked down to a third party platform like that.

It's worth looking at the features in discord though if theres anything we can do on this site?

I'm working on moving to a new platform that should be a bit more modern and streamlined, so it's a good chance to get some ideas on features for it now. I'm hoping to get a test site up soon.

I used to manage the official Discord for a game company, and it was a nightmare, haha. I still use it semi-regularly to keep in touch with mates across Australia and the odd gaming group I join.

If you decide to do it Adz, and need a hand, I'd be happy to help casually, mate.

Discord is just IRC for Gen Z. That said I use it.

I was actually looking into IRC servers, for the engine for some realtime comms at least - I think there are better methods now though.
