Pretty Ironic is correct, maybe Karma for the lineman call and missed penalty.

Following on from this given our last match against the flying choppers, assuming Karma, Kossie and the boys team bus will run off the Hawkersbury river bridge and half the team, nar all first choice players will be out for a month.

Come on Karma ..........Scum has had its share..........now its time for the choppers.

Australia's preparations for its opening World Cup qualifier against Qatar next Wednesday night suffered a scare on Thursday when keeper Ante Covic was lucky to escape serious injury during a rugged training session under new Socceroos manager Pim Verbeek.

Covic, the second choice keeper in Verbeek's preliminary 39-man squad who will almost certainly start in goal if Mark Schwarzer is unable to make the rushed trip back to Australia following his club match for Middlesbrough on Sunday, limped off the pitch when caught on the leg by Newcastle Jets striker James Holland.

Holland accidentally slid into Covic during a spirited practice match at the home of former NSL club South Melbourne in a session which revived memories of some of former manager Guus Hiddink's marathon training sessions prior to the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Luckily, Covic escaped serious injury but the incident showed how potentially thin Verbeek's squad is, particularly with Schwarzer still not certain to be available.

Australia's long-time No.1 keeper is the only member of the squad that has to play on Sunday in Europe this weekend, meaning he will not arrive in Melbourne until at least Tuesday - just one day before the start of Australia's long journey towards the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

That means that even if Schwarzer picks up a minor injury on the weekend he would be doubtful to make the 24-hour flight home and should Covic also be ruled out it would leave only Olyroos' custodian Danny Vukovic as the only keeper in the squad.

Covic, who plays for the Newcastle Jets, has been the outstanding keeper of the A-League this season and was the third keeper in Australia's squad at last year's World Cup.

Meanwhile Verbeek has urged the Australians to be patient in Wednesday night's clash against a team that at 88 is ranked 40 places behind the Socceroos on FIFA's official world rankings.

Verbeek is convinced Qatar - which will be without its best striker Sebastian Quintana due to suspension - has come to Australia with the aim of playing for a 0-0 draw.

And certainly much of Thursday's long match practice session was aimed at keeping the ball and finding space - two qualities Verbeek believes will be vital if the Socceroos are to win his first game in charge next Wednesday night.

"We know they (Qatar) will come here to defend and play on the counter attack so we have to respect that," he said.

"They will probably defend with eight or nine players so space will be tight so we have to find players that can still find open spaces and we know we will not get many chances (to score) so we have to bring players in that can handle that kind of pressure."

Verbeek also urged the Socceroos to be patient, saying he would more than settle for a 1-0 win in what is expected to be a tricky opening match for the home side.

"Against a team coming here to defend, the earlier you score your goal the better it is," he said.

"But on the other hand if you don't score an early goal we should not be getting over excited."

"We have to be patient because the team we select for Wednesday will be good enough to win the game."

"It doesn't matter if it (the first goal) is not in the first five minutes or the first 30 or the first 45 because the moment we lose our organisation because we start to be impatient and the fans are shouting (for the breakthrough goal) then the risk of a counter attack and a goal from Qatar will be high."
