#1:
Australia's No.1,
Mat Ryan

top-1.jpg

If you didn’t know this one was coming, where have you been living? Voted No. 1 before his stunning La Liga move, Mat Ryan’s career trajectory was always impressive. Following his six-year deal with Valencia it looks absolutely extraordinary. When Socceroo legend Mark Schwarzer exited the international stage some years back few would have imagined how quickly the boy from Bankstown would step up. At just 23 there is still improvement to come from this precocious talent, and that’s what makes his footballing story so enthralling. Australia’s No.1 comes in at No.1 in FourFourTwo’s Top 50 Aussies in the World…

#3: Captain Marvellous Mile Jedinak

top-3.jpg

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew described the Australian as a "massive character and player" after the 31-year-old decided to stay in London and fight for his position. It’s just another hurdle for the Socceroos captain who has overcome plenty in his career with the same resilience and determination. Not one to make a fuss, so we’ll make it for him, as he charges into the top three of our Top 50 Aussies in the World.

#6: Future Socceroos Stalwart Sainsbury

top-6.jpg

Previous coaches have equated his laidback manner with a lack of desire - BIG MISTAKE. This Mr Cool, Calm and Collected might just have the perfect demeanour for the high pressure world of top-flight football. He cruises into 6th place in our Top 50 Aussies inthe World.

#22: Blitzer Bernie

top-22-1.jpg

The former A-League star began his adventure with Club Brugge in the worst way possible way, breaking his fibula in a pre-season training accident that will keep him sidelined for some time. After promising so much, the lanky speedster finally delivered in 2014/15 which is why we've backed him to bounce back from the latest setback. He earns his spot at 22 in our Aussie Top 50.

It's great to see Ryan @ no1 but I'd've thought that KING CAHILL would've been top or @ least higher than no 4

I personally think if Mustafa Amini hadn't languished on the bench &/or the reserves at Borussia Dortmund and had the chance he's got know at Randers, he'd have made the list.

Likewise with injured Tommy Rogic at SPL Celtic, especially considering his form for them recently as well as the Socceroo's.

I thought similarly too but when you compare the both of them at their respective ages and where each are/was at the time then/now .......

21y.o
Club Brugge vs Millwall
Belgium Pro League (1st Div)
vs
Millwall (Football League Second Div - which was technically the 3rd Div on the pyramid at the time when Tim was 21y.o).

Ryan was 1st team player from day dot + won GK of the Year in debut season and then again the following year.

23y.o
Valencia vs Millwall

25/26 y.o
Cahill moves to Everton.

Timmy's career certainly kicked on at the Toffees, & is maturing like a 'fine wine' now at 35 y.o, with possible big move from Shanghai to Qatar rumoured .

Its similar to that age old Q like 'who's the better boxer from the different era's ?'

It's a difficult thing to compare but I think Matty's 'star' is shining the brightest @ the moment.
