Not baffling at all. He got a 4 or 5 game run at the beginning of year. Didn't perform well and that was that. In our shit years he would have started every game.
You neglect to mention Kuol and Reec were just as bad but continued to get chances for far longer and after we had some cohesion to our attack. DWH got a rough deal compared to those two this season.

It’s such an interesting situation, Monty loved him. He was, in a way, the planned successor for Dingo in Monty’s eyes. Then got injured and could barely impact last season then Jacko doesn’t like the type of striker he is. Just baffling he didn’t get another chance but in the end it didn’t hurt our success so we can’t complain.
It's a bloody good problem to have for our club. Winning and trying to play good youngsters.
May this continue

Rewatched again last night. Some random thoughts.

The tards played well, defended, squeezed us intelligently and attacked with flair. Their pressure meant we over-hit passes we are usually crisp with so they did all they could to disrupt our game. But we are better and smarter and know how to play even against that.

Roux had an off game for him as an attacker, but his defence was on point when it counted.
Maxy had a stellar game.
Our goals were all class and had at least 2 excellent assists leading to each goal. That's the quality of this team, as a team.
Add to that we lost our 2 top goal scorers this season mid season (after losing or top 3 from last season). Amazing.

We have a history of this this season - and it works so I'm not complaining - but there were more than a few times in the first half when the forward ball was on and was the right move but we went sideways or backwards. I felt a little more driving in and we might have gotten the first goal. But it was the game management we've use to win an AFC Cup and Premiership so what do I know.

That was an overall heroes night and as legendary a football story as you could come up with.

It was also the first time I watched the paramount interviews on the pitch as the game finished.
Some of the fans inserting their god-awful heads into the players' moment was cringeworthy (haha, apologies if you're reading this).
Felt bad for the players not getting to soak up that moment with fans trying to make it about themselves.
There was even one where the lass was repeatedly screaming over the top of Brian unaware he was trying to answer a question about his mum passing away.

There were a lot of fans on that pitch as well that would have been lucky to attend maybe one other game this season if any.

And a fair few in the stands not interested in the game, family brought along that were happy to grab the atmosphere for their Instagram and then only watch 2 minutes of the game.

Not their fault but I always think how many football mad kids and parents missed out due to availability, cost, sitting together, later game, etc.

Straight away thought of that dumb girl shrieking 3-1! 3-1! over and over in the pink before I read the rest of your post...

100% this.

A few of the people who got their 2 seconds of fame on the pitch, wouldn’t even know the players names they jumped in on .. always the way with a big occasion, lots of corporate seats, etc. But a little hard to swallow.

Still grateful I was there, (Not on the pitch.)

On the Monday night I was at dinner with my folks and mum was asking about tickets. My parents have not been to a game in years, so I was playing coy about it because while normally I'd do whatever I could to help the two people who grew up dealing with my shit, I couldn't live with the idea of some true fans missing out on the biggest home game in the club's history because my parents wanted to go to an event.

Somehow, Mum managed to find two tickets (in a great spot as well, right near the tunnel) on Wednesday evening, so her and Dad went. I'm grateful at least they got to experience that first hand, because the last CCM game either of them went to was the NYE 2018 clusterf**k, and the old man reckoned he'd never go back...

Until we get to the stage that you have to be a member (of some sort) to get a 1 ticket prior to the general public to the GF then this is always going to be a problem. 8 tickets per member (when other members missed out is really not encouraging people to buy memberships.

I know FA control the Finals and that sort of ticketing may be appropriate to fill Homebush or the MCG but if it is at a smaller ground that is just pissing off existing members.

I think it was a massive gamble - once it was at Gosford, they really felt it needed to be a sell out to not be an embarrassment, a quick sell out would be even better narrative for the media, and the easiest way to do that is to allow mass ticket purchasing. If we host again we'd probably see it restricted more, but the powers that be needed a good news story and a sell out was the easiest way to manufacture one.

. that doesn't make much sense ... we'd sold out the two semis at the ground without all the apl blow-ins taking up space

. 8 tickets just created a whole lot of unnecessary angst

I don't know any members who missed out.

I know of several non-members who were close to missing out, but didn't.

I also know of several non-members who couldn't find their tickets together and so had to get separate seats
