ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A-league to get tough on divers apparently

Sheer joy at beating the scum :)
As fake dives go, this one's pretty good!

Hutch might be in trouble

At least there will need to be some form of contact now to make it 'look' legit

he gets contact - he sticks his melonbutt out there and gets bumped and falls over the ball. referee clears the space and he plays a quick square ball. repeat x100.

It will be interesting to see how consistant they get on it as the season goes on, if archie thompson or robbie fowler took a dive in the last game of the season i highly dobut the ffa will suspend them for the final series and will most likely give them the 'benifit of the dobut' of if it was a dive or not

I love the idea of match review and action on divers - it's very difficult for the referee to spot with certainty (and even then, many lack the courage to caution divers).  I've been saying for ages that the only way you can really take action agaisnt divers is using video review and taking strong action agaisnt them.

Still, the HAL judiciary has shown in past seasons that it lacks integrity.  Nobody in their right mind could possibly accuse them of maintaining a fair and consistent approach to all teams and players.

As such, I can see a great idea being executed poorly.

Also, like the referee, the video review panel will have to allow the player to have the benefit of the doubt - the accusation of a dive must be irrefutable, and if there's any doubt at all he'll have to get off.  This means the entire decision comes down to being lucky enough to have the right camera angle on the incident.

Simulation was getting out of control - it sickened me to the core to see how frequently our team in particular began to take up diving.

There's also a difference between diving, and making a foul look worse than it is.  Also, it's difficult to tell if something really is a dive when there's contact.

I think there is a risk of referees being even more reluctant to caution for diving - but they shouldn't be; after all, if they caution a diver and that player commits a bad tackle later on, that's 2 yellow cards.  In otherwords, that caution can still change the match.
