ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sensationalist horse shit designed to drive traffic and the article has several spelling mistakes. Rapidly losing any faith in what they churn out.
Can't comment on spelling mistakes, not really one of my specialist subjects, but would say the article is newsworthy (and not sensationalist) if true - and given there are direct and detailed quotes from Richard Peil, it would seem it is a factually based article.

In fact, given that there appears to be nothing coming out of the Scottish press about this, I would suggest that Richard is the probable source of the article - generating a bit of positive publicity for the club (and/or the work he is doing as owner)

Interesting point of view, particularly because I see it in exactly the opposite light. To me it's worded that he wanted to leave but missed out. That's not good press (unless you want to sell your coach). Can't we just have some fkin stability and success for a season or two after so many rough years? Great way to build your fan base, tell them no one has any loyalty including the coaching staff.

Funny how people see things. I didn't get Monty's personal preference from this at all, only that he was wanted, and Peil was prepared to fight for him for a bit longer.

Staying for little while longer is the right move for Monty and he knows that, it's why he signed a 3 year deal. His family is settled, and another year or two of producing talent and he'll have more quality options to choose from

The article did make it clear that Monty didn't apply for the role, so no disloyalty in that respect. (The article is a bit vague after that but it does seem he agreed to be interviewed but wasn't successful.)

As to why publicise it, I guess it is a positive story for the club that we have such an in demand coach. Or maybe it was just Richard trying to establish his credentials as someone who will do the right things by the fans (given a lot of the article was about how we would fight to keep him, not dissimilar to the article by the same author about the Birraz departure and how Richard fought tooth and nail to keep him.)

I would rather think it is Monty’s agent generating this stuff. The agents are quite numerous and active at the club these days and all close to Peil.

For me it shows the modern world and its kinda like a money ball thing...

Large European club, wanting to give themselves an edge define what type / style / background of coach they want... builds an algorithm ... then have someone entre data from say 40 leagues .... you can come out on top in the algorithm but still not get big banana .... I assume in time they rate the leagues so J-League would be better than A-League...

What it shows to me is the A-League is on the radar of some given Ange and the recent transfers to Europe of a number of our younger players...

Just read all the comments on twitter and on facebook, holy shit the Mariners media account is getting smashed.

So much hate from within, other fans and even neutrals just perplexed at why the f**k u would post a story about the coach almost leaving ?

. i reckon we can expect a bit of this stuff from now on

. seems very much like Rich talking up the value of his assets hoping that an offer comes in to buy them while a contract is still in place:
  • wasn't on the list (so I'm promoting it)
  • metrics forced him onto the list (performance attributes are more important than name or experience ... so i'm promoting it)
  • we weren't going to let him go without a fight (i.e. everything is for sale at the right price ... but i didn't really say that, did i)
