Perfect way to fairwell a Championship year. Great to see the stands full and a free flowing exciting game like that is good for the casuals. I can understand we have no money and Tulio leaving but please be the only one. I feel we can still be competitive without him but boy we can’t afford to lose any others until season end. That’s my new year wish.

On a side note, can’t believe Glory got Morgan to start giving us the calls Shitney usually get. I’ll take it and it’s rare a Ref isn’t booed off the park at the end of our home games.

We are undoubtedly richer than we've ever been from transfer fees and yet supposedly we haven't got any money. But at the start of the season we'd sold too many. Then the new manager comes in tells the forwards they're all underperforming and he's bringing in new blood in January. Then January comes and there's no money and we've sold our best forward.

My take is Dick will be out at the earliest opportunity and he's limiting the losses as much as possible. A delicate balancing act of enticing fans on the minimum shoestring until he can exit.

Or prove that wrong with some decent players in this window.

His composure on the ball waiting for the right moment to thread a pass is incredible. If he can get his shooting boots on he’ll go to a whole new level
Football intelligence and consistency in reading of the game is the best in our side by a long way. Pass selection is excellent. You really can't train that, we're so lucky to have had him as long as we have and long may it continue. If he goes in this window we really are in big trouble.

I’ve had exactly this vibe for a while and hope to be wrong but as above.. I think we are in trouble.

Very happy the gloss and fanfare tonight will hide the cracks for a little while longer, the team and the fans deserved that end of year celebration.

January will be telling though.

I think you are right about RP, I thought it telling he didn’t go on the Bali trip in November. If you were invested in the club you wouldn’t have missed that. Maybe he had an excuse but even MC found a way to get there. I don’t see him taking the option after three years.

So a couple of things:
• We're currently sitting at 7,200 for the games so far this year, even after the poor start and the extremely bad scheduling ( and I would rate this the worst scheduling I can remember us having), were an average of 800 off one of RP's 3x8 aims.
• on the scheduling, how the f**k did we agree to such a poor schedule.
• Im not going to adjudge what has happened with Tulio off hearsay, but to say I reckon what ever was agreed to was open from start to finish.
• Tulio will be missed, but I don't see it as an end, especially with how our players are developing, Alou's starting to find form, and Nisbet sent in a missile in at the end.
• What ever RP's direction, let's not go off hearsay. Let's wait until he says what he's doing. He's shown to be interested in the growth of the club, let's see what happens.

The years leading up to and the year of the GF win over WSW we had built a strong base crowd, we even had roughly 25% of our base from Sydney mostly northern parts but still a very strong connection.

At that point in time I believed that if we had another 5 to 6 strong years, we would dominate the Coast now...

We all know what followed.

Then two things happened around the same time we got Staj as coach and we had Ben C managing the academy....

Somehow they dragged us off the bottom and produced a stable of academy players.

Monty and co followed and slowly we are building the base again, IMO around 2012 / 13 our base was around 8k, by the time Staj arrived the base was 4.5 at best... today I reckon our base is around 6k and growing....

As was before give us another, 5 to 6 stable years with a decent coach and squad and tonight proved with 15 K most wearing colours, we will dominate the Coast... and this time there is no one in NRL media screaming for the Coast to have a team...

Gee I hope you guys are wrong....

Things were a lot different back then. 2011-13 we were spending well beyond our means, to the point the club was hours away from going bankrupt. CEOs at the time were leading us to death.

Shaun’s led us through the valley of death and out the other side. We ain’t rich, but we need to chill on the death knells. Tbh I don’t even understand why anyone’s trying to sound the death knells. We’re unbeaten in 6; we just scored 4 at home… why is everyone so fkn miserable?!

If we are genuinely using these fees to pay off debt and relying on our Academy to replace talents like Tulio, we really are in serious trouble. No getting around it.
That is the Club's financial model. Bring in young players, identify and buy in overlooked players for a song, develop those that have the ability and sell them on. Eventually, if done successfully, you can have that rarest of items, a self funding football club.

I do not understand the doom and gloom and talk of conspiracy. The model has been clear for a long time now and is showing results. We have a championship, and young players queuing up for a trial here.
We have coped with the biggest loss of quality players in years, successfully coped with the loss of playing staff, have just had a great win in front of one of our biggest regular season home crowds and are playing competitive exciting football.

Hanrahan descendants obviously settled on the coast
