Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

It this friendly sanctioned by FIFA as a competitive fixture? Honest question.

Edit: it's pencilled in as an international Friendly, so I'll say no.
The clue is in the name "friendly"
These games are not in a competition hence not competitive

I'll be sad to see him go (we've barely seen him at all), but hoping he'll repay the fans with some massive performances before January plus a memorable World Cup.

Like Tam Rogic, Maty Ryan and Mile Jedinak, it will be great in future years to know a major star began at CCM.

Jakob Cresnar (listed in the starting 11 for this SFC friendly) is reported to have signed a scholarship deal with us. Did I miss that or was it announced somewhere?

I can't read the full article, it's behind a paywall but the title is:

PROMISING Newcastle-born left back Jakob Cresnar has signed a scholarship deal with the Central Coast Mariners

No word from official channels yet but has been rumoured by a number of people now.

That may be the case, but do competitive games happen out of multi-opponent competitions E.g. Cups and Leagues. The rules state Regular Games may be included, I'm just not aware of a regular one-off match. And if they do, could it just be that the term friendly is used as a blanket term?

Cres is not listed on the squads page of the Mariners website yet, but there are a number of this year's academy regulars who are listed and I assume therefore that these are all scholarships as well: Windust, Tapp, Hong, Bulic, Kasalovic, Kuzevski and Dor Jok.

In addition, another 2 that are listed that I assume are scholarships are James Bayliss and the guy that has need reported on here as having signed from WSW, Di Pizio.

I think it has to be a FIFA sanctioned competition, like World Cup, continental champs, confederatiosn etc

I forget where but saw another source saying Cresnar signed to scholarship last night. Fairly confident it just needs to be announced.

Happy with this.

We really do have a crazy Portuguese connection at the moment dont we with Ayongo, Kalechi and now Kuol rumoured to be heading the other way…

A sneaky $10 on the next visa Richard mentioned being from Portuguese second division must be short odds..

Rich specifically said Garangs release clause is 7 figures… if my math is correct, the $600,000 mentioned in that tweet is only…. 6 figures? I don’t want to jump to conclusions but either Rich lied or that tweet is wrong.
maybe Newcastle are paying £600,000 which would make more sense and would be activating the release.
