I'd be really surprised if we played anything other than a close cousin of the 4-3-3 (so that can be anything from 4-5-1 to 4-2-3-1 to 4-1-4-1 to a strict 4-3-3).

There'll be a back four, two wingers and a centre forward, and we'll see how the rest of it shapes up.

Jake Mcging accepts 2 year extension to stay with CCM:

The Central Coast Mariners are excited to announce that 21-year old defender, Jake McGing has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will see him remain in Yellow & Navy until at least the end of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season

McGing is a graduate of the Mariners Foxtel National Youth League side and signed his first professional contract with the Mariners in February this year - his impressive performances during the pre-season have led to an extension of his time IN the Central Coast.

Originally a midfielder, McGing found his feet with Westfield Sports High School and went on to captain the Western Sydney Wanderers youth team during the 2013/14 Season.

McGing linked with the Mariners the following season and is now a realistic chance to feature prominently in Tony Walmsley’s Hyundai A-League 2015/16 plans.

The Eschol Park Wolves junior was asleep on the bus homebound from a pre-season trip to Coffs Harbour when he was asked to join Head Coach Tony Walmsley at the front of the bus. Little did he know, he was about to be offered the chance to prolong his dream with the Central Coast Mariners.

“I’m thrilled, when Tony told me I was so pleased and it’s just an unbelievable feeling,” McGing said.

“When he called me down the front of the bus, I thought he just wanted to chat to me about the game but to hear what he said was certainly not expected.

“I didn’t think I would like it as much as I do [playing centre back] but I get a lot more time on the ball and I’ve really enjoyed that.

“The overall culture here is fantastic, there are no clicks in the team and it’s just like a big family so we get along really well,” he said.

Head Coach Tony Walmsley spoke of McGing as an impressive youth prospect who he’s had his eye on for quite some time.

“Jake’s a talented young player, I tried to sign him a number of years ago in the youth team but at the time as a Western Sydney boy he went there as an NYL player,” Walmsley said.

“He’s always had talent but it wasn’t always as a central defender, we think that centre back is his best chance of being successful and in terms of what he’s delivered so far, the contract extensions justifies our belief that he’s got a really big future.

“The length of the tenure that we’ve offered him is to give him every chance to become a mainstay in the Mariners’ backline.

“He fits our better people, better players mantra, he ticks all the boxes on and off the pitch, he’s a quick learner, he wants to improve every time he turns up for training and we can’t ask for much more than that.

“If you look at McGing & Harry Ascroft as two young central defenders who are starting on this journey together they’ve both got three year deals now,” he said.

McGing is part of a Mariners defensive unit that is deep with talent, featuring the likes of Josh Rose, Eddy Bosnar, Harry Ascroft, Jacob Poscoliero, Storm Roux and Michael Neill who will all be gunning for a position come October 10.

I like this, rewarding talent and application with a solid 3 yr contract. Young players that want to progress just need to look to CCM as a pathway.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ange gives him some game-time in the friendly considering Jedinak is out.

Postecoglou would do so knowing that Overseas Clubs will look upon Bratten's National call-up as a sign for the future, both Bratten's & potential Overseas Clubs.

I'd say Bratten would hold out till after the Socceroo's Camp/games to make any decisions especially being a free agent.

Personally think he's a much better player than Caceres in that holding midfielder position next Monty, with the added benefit of pushing forward to support the attack when in the front third. Much better passer which is pivotal for that pos.

I'd have him, but he wouldn't come here.

As discussed, there are a bunch of players on the way out of Brisbane. Many would be out of our price range, but surely we could manage a sneaky move for someone like Dimi Petratos?

Bratten gooooone most likely, as he 'Eyes a Euro Adventure':

“I’ve had a fair bit of interest from teams in Europe. To sign for an A-League club would be a sideways step and I don’t want to do that. I want to push myself and see if I can play at the highest level possible,” said Brattan.

“If I go overseas and I’m not successful then at least I can say I’ve given it a go and I’d be happy to play in the A-League again.”

While we do have a few in his position I think Devante Clut would be a great acquisition and one who could be sold for profit later. Borello would be a decent shout too.

Would much rather that we won most games 5-4 than winning all games 1-0. Ah well, I can only dream!

So you'd like a team with 'sloppy, shitty leaky' defence that concedes 4 goals EVERY WEEK! that only manages to 'luckily', score 1 more than their opposition & I emphasize 'luckily' as after conceding 4 goals I'd consider ourselves lucky!

I'll take 1-0 wins EVERY week for 27 weeks!

If I'm not a dumb-arse I think that would win you a Championship

He's obviously saying he wants entertaining football

1-0 wins can also be "lucky" or haven't you watched any of our previous years ;)

McGing just became my new favourite player.
As an ex -President of Eschol Park I`m proud to see he has benefitted from my time there.

Wouldn`t winning 5-4 every week give you the same result?

Saying you'd be happy to win 5-4 every week, yes I concede, say's he likes to 'watch football' thats entertaining & 'mathematically' it could (depending on your seriously low goal difference) win you a championship. BUT it also shows he doesn't 'understand football', statistics & commonsense proves that. Be happy if anyone can provide historical evidence of it ever actually occurring ......but I'd doubt it.

Mariners win 5-4 & during post match interview Tony Walmsley say's he was happy to win like that, by the skin of his teeth, 5-4 every week! How long do you think IT & for that matter HE'd last?

I dont think it's too hard to 'understand' that ANY team that concedes 4 goals EVERY week will soon enough lose a game .... & another .....& another ....

winning 5-4 weekly will bring the crowds back.
There'd be an argument to be made that losing 4-5 weekly would bring the crowds back too

But then you score that many goals and your bound to win a game eventually. ......then another. ............and another ;)
