2014/15 Draw Changes

CHANGE IN 2014/15 SCHEDULE

Football Federation Australia (FFA) announced some significant updates to the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Season draw this morning which includes moving the Hyundai A-League 2015 Grand Final to Sunday 17 May 2015, following recent confirmation from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) of changes to next year’s AFC Champions League competition calendar.

Head of Hyundai A-League Damien de Bohun explained that the main reason for these changes were to assist the clubs and protect the integrity of the Hyundai A-League competition.

“We were officially advised by the AFC earlier this week that their competitions calendar had changed from what we had been previously informed,” said de Bohun.

“The Round of 16 matches in the AFC Champions League 2015 will now again be played on a home & away basis, as opposed to the one-off matches which were communicated in the AFC’s original schedule. This significantly impacts the Hyundai A-League in and around the start of the Finals Series and the 2014/15 Season draw which we announced in June.

“As we have seen with the tremendous run of Western Sydney Wanderers in the AFC Champions League this year, the updates to the draw we have made today will give the Hyundai A-League clubs competing in the AFC Champions League 2015 the best opportunity to succeed in that important competition, while also protecting the integrity of the Hyundai A-League 2015 Finals Series. Whilst we would obviously prefer not to make these changes at this stage, this is the reality of the global nature of football – which is also one of the great strengths of our game”.

“As a result of the changes, matches that were originally listed in the “floating” Round 9 will be consolidated into a new Round 27 with the naming of the rounds to be amended accordingly. The Hyundai A-League 2015 Finals Series will now start on the weekend of 1-3 May with the Hyundai A-League 2015 Grand Final now scheduled for Sunday 17 May 2015.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Hyundai A-League clubs and venue operators for their assistance in confirming these updates in such a short period of time,”

“Now that the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Season draw has been confirmed all football fans can unite in excitement about the start of the competition,” concluded de Bohun.

The Central Coast Mariners will now head to AAMI Park to take on Melbourne Victory in round 27 of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 on Sunday 26th April 2015. In addition, the following updates to the Central Coast Mariners Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Season draw which will were also made:

  • The kick off times for Friday night matches that were scheduled for 7:30pm (AEST/AEDT) will now kick-off at 7:40pm (AEST/AEDT)
  • The Round 9 fixture between Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory on Friday, 5 December 2014 will be played at North Sydney Oval (kick-off 7:40pm AEDT)
  • The Round 10 fixture between Wellington Phoenix and Central Coast Mariners on Saturday 13, December 2014 will now be played at Eden Park, Auckland NZ (kick-off 5:00pm local (3:00pm AEDT))
  • The Round 16 fixture between Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United on Saturday, 7 February 2015 will be played at Brookvale Oval (kick-off 5:00pm AEDT)
The Central Coast Mariners wish to advise our loyal Members that due to the late change in this draw, some elements of your Fixtures Cards & Fixtures Magnet as provided in your Membership packs will not reflect these changes. We apologise for the inconvenience.

so the arguablely the biggest draw card outside Wsw is being played at N/sydney .
I won't finish till 5 .so no f'kn chance of seeing the game .
my free ticket options are now dramatically cut or as compensation or will i be able to use them at local rival games ?

once again a very very bad look

I can't see why you would get compensation, since that game (and the AU game at Brookvale) were down as venue TBA to begin with and were never included in the CCS membership packages.

really ! your gunna run with the christopher pyne defence . I haven't received my member package yet either, but the loss of those 2 games
largely devalues it . not f'n happy jan

It would only be a loss if those games were advertised as being part of the membership package, but they never were. They were always flagged as being held at NSO and Brookvale, pending approval from the FFA (among other things), and were only ever part of the Northern Sydney packages.

Really? They were never included in the member package so there's no need to get your knickers in a twist.

Agreed. This in no way changes anything that we didn't already know and members aren't paying for it unless they took the North Sydney games as well..... which they would have been well aware of anyway.

And again, to ensure nobody can be in any doubt as to my view on these games, the Sydney-based games can eat a whopping great big bag of flaming dicks.
I take it you will be attending next week's Fans Forum to express this point of view?

This literally changes nothing for us and is just a clarification of which game is at Brookie and which is at NSO.

Unless you were traveling over to Welly for the Phoenix game. Better change your hotel booking for Auckland (which has a better stadium for round ball IMO)

Like others have said, this changes literally nothing. But, I suppose you need something to be outraged about. Great stuff pal.

See, I'm grumpy about these games, but the announcement doesn't make me any grumpier, it just confirms what we already knew, and that is that they can eat a big bag of flaming ones.

No point, a few seasons ago the mariners held focus groups where we got paid to attend for mariners who did not renew their memberships. The message was very clear from me and my group that it was due to the game relocation to Canberra. They only have to look at there renewal list again this season to see they have made the same mistake.

Given they paid us to do those sessions so I would imagine were genuinely interested I can't see them listening at a fans forum especially given all the flack and feedback they have already had.
