World Cup Qualifiers

A few surprises in the qualifiers this weekend.

Just watched Paraguay get a deserved 1-1 draw away to Argentina.

Italy winning 2-1 in Cyprus with a goal deep into injury time.

Romania losing 3-0 at home to Lithuania.

Austria beating the nation that plays with no heart 3-1.

Actually not sure if the last one is such a shock anymore.This and the French performance at the Euros kind of puts into perspective Scotlands two wins against them last year.It's starting to look like lower ranked nations have worked out how to beat them.

Let them know you're not going to stand back and watch them play pretty football and they'll give up.

Just like the war really.

Asian qualifiers threw up some interesting results with North Korea winning away against UAE.
And Japan only beating Bahrain 3-2 even though they lead 3 nil.

I watched France game and they have massive problems and will struggle to qualify because i think Austria are hopeless. They scored off three set pieces.
All home nations struggled as well. Scotland would be disappointed!

I think Germany has a pretty easy group. Russia and Germany will compete for finishing 1st.

Very easy they will definately be there.

Is it the first team in each group go through plus the teams that finish second have a playoff series to qualify like previous world cup campaigns?

Already the promise of the last qualifying campaign under Smith and then McLeish is evaporating.No wins in 4 games since this tool Burley came in.

Scotland missed Ferguson in midfield. Would have thought the fact there were a few Smelltic players that the continuity would have been there but not so eh? Didn't get to see the game live, only 'watched' commentary via web and it didn't seem Scots did too bad. Just lost the early goal and couldn't score themselves?

I watched the Scotland v Macedonia game and the Scots shoul;d have had a definite penalty. Twice in the same period of play a Scots player was hacked and got nothing. Deplorable refereeing.

Portugal were 1-0 up with 5 minutes to play and lost 3-2!!
