ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Who is your sporting hero??

Michael Milton- Lost a leg to bone cancer at age 9, was a winter paralympian by age 14. Then beat oesophagul cancer in 2007 to compete at the Beijing summer paralympics as a cyclist. Holds the Australian record for the fastest man on skis at 213.54km/h. He has 6 gold 2 silver and 2 bronze medals from 5 winter paralympics.

Louise Sauvage- Arguably the most well-known disabled athlete in Australia. 9 Paralympic and 2 Olympic gold medals, 4 silver Paralympic medals and a silver at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Kurt Fearnley- Long distance wheelchair athlete, best known for the marathon. 3 golds, 5 silvers and a bronze medal from Paralympics to his credit. In 2007 he won 10 of 11 marathons he started in.

Lance Armstrong also comes into this category for overcoming near terminal cancer, and his achievements are well documented

These athletes are just examples that I could think of from the top of my head, I'm sure there are many many more someone could come up with.

Mine would have to be AFL Player Jason McCartney.

I dont know if many of you know about this man but he is a inspiration to mankind. I have read his book that he wrote with Ben Collins about his extraordinary journey from being in the Bali Bombings to Comeback and play one final game in the AFL.

But that night in Melbourne when he returned to play his final game of AFL is probably the most emotional night in Australian Sportng History.

I will always admire the courage and inspiration this man had and as John Howard said to Jason  " Millions of People Admire your Guts"
