What is a pass mark for Staj?

For me he has to be at the very least somewhere near getting to the finals, competitive enough that we don't collect another wooden spoon. He has had time to build his own squad and implement his own tactics if we're still struggling to get off the foot of the table then I don't think Staj is the right coach for us.

He set his own target in the last video. '....If we keep improving we can certainly push for that finals spot that we want to get this year.' That means 5th to 8th for mean. Still need more defensive cover but we at least seem to be able stronger up front.

I’m gonna be generous and say top 10, I still think Staj is the right coach for us, with the right owner funding he would be doing much better, to be fair if we were to sack him, there is really no other decent coaches available to us right now, we need to continue to back staj because our constant turnover of coaches does nothing to help the team every year, we can’t keep going in the same cycle of sacking coaches because we wont go anywhere

Top 8.

He has cleared out most of the dead wood.

He possibly needs a defensive specialist to fine tune his backline.

I think he is a Good manager.

Merry Christmas JP, hope you are feeling well brother.
Merry Christmas to you Wombat! I'm on the mend, was in hospital for a fair chunk of this year and a bit of last, hopefully a better 2021.

Said it in another thread but my expectation would be 9th. I feel we’re at least one maybe two solid CBs from a finals run but how well the rest of the team fires could make up for it to an extent or could break us.

We need to be out of the spoon conversation and at least somewhat competitive again to bring some hope back. I don’t think we’ve got the budget to be world beaters and be consistent enough to be top 4 no matter how good the coaching staff are but the middle of the table is up for grabs. If we aren’t competitive again I have doubts Staj can get us there with the constraints the club has and need to look for a new option for next season,

With the squad we have i feel 9th or 10th would be a good achievement. My main concern is the inexperience of the squad and the fact our visa players won't have a preseason to bed in. Losing the leadership quality of Ziggy may prove problematic and we have a lack of depth with our strikers should Urena not make his mark. Staj is obviously an excellent coach as he showed with the Matildas but he has a lot of budgetary constraints to deal with here. He had the team playing well post covid break so it should be interesting

Seriously, anything above the spoon.
Yes Staj has had time to build a team but he still hasn`t had the funding for great players.
In Europe it would be like "do you want get away from Covid-19 and take your family to a safer place"
Player, "Sure where do I sign, get us the f**k away from here"...
Give him some coin and then judge him on his merits.

I am also in the 8th or better camp. What to see them score more goals, be more competitive and gritty. Anything from 5th up is over achieving.
Realistically the squad is a spooner but that’s why Staj has to get something out of them to show he’s a top manager

10 or 11 wins . the fact that we may be able to score goals will help us in defence .
having genuine threat . 6th is a real expectation .early chaos may help us.

i may employee praying to ancient gods and voodoo if it helps .

For me its a number of things...

Being competitive in all games i.e. no thrashings ...

Making Gosford a fortress ...

Playing attacking Football...

Sideline smart decisions i.e if a change in game plan is needed or a player replaced it happens ...

Obvious team spirit from the squad that can be seen from the stands...

Double the points of last year...

Development of the youth players to a higher level...

Free beer at the stadium ... OK could be difficult but would increase the crowd...

Agree about all but don’t care about attacking football. I just want players to dig in, be aggressive and leave everything on the pitch. If we do that the points should accumulate.

I would take an ugly win over an entertaining draw every day if the week.

I think it’s very important to finish at least mid pack. We badly need to change the story around the club and put ourselves in a better position for recruitment for subsequent years. IMO anything worse than 7th and that won’t be achieved.

The difference in class between first and last in this league is a lot smaller than many other professional leagues. Mid table is a goal that Staj should definitely feel he can achieve, though any coach and team need to be playing to win the comp
and can not afford an inferiority complex.

Game to game the biggest things for me are. Attitude. Structure/organisation. Improvement on previous weeks mistakes and reasonable consistency in all areas.
